I was wondering if anybody has any suggestions for replenishing electrolytes. I'm a copious sweater, and if I'm not careful my salt levels can drop and I feel really awful. (This happened to me yesterday. Thankfully I started eating some salty crackers and felt much better.)

I could always do the Gatorade thing, but I hate drinking that much sugar. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Thanks,
Conor

Living in Thailand... I drink young coconut juice.

Can buy it almost anywhere straight out of the coconut... I dunno if that is an option for you but I make sure to have one ready to drink after every high intensity session.

Been experimenting a bit with some stuff from the raw food vegan gang. Not sold on living like that all the time, but some very intereseting and valuable stuff for sure.

Try a drink made of a few bananas (for the vitamins, protein, carbs, natural sugar to help level out the blood sugar) and a stick or two of celery (for minerals and especially salt) and water all blended up. The amount of water just depends how concentrated you want the drink to be.

It's not bad:)

add a teaspoon of salt and a teaspoon of baking soda to each half gallon of water. that's all that's in "smart water" and trader joe's or whole food's "electrolyte enhanced water." adding a twist of lemon is good for circulating your qi (which would accelerate your absorption of the electrolytes) according to chinese medicine.

also, pickles are very high in electrolytes. be careful with the vlasic kosher dills and whatnot, tho. personally I wouldn't eat any pickles that contain preservatives or food color.

I've read that milk is a solid source of replenishing electrolytes.

Measure all ingredients precisely. Small variations can make the drink less effective or even harmful. Mix the following:
1 quart (950 mL) water
½ teaspoon (2.5 g) baking soda
½ teaspoon (2.5 g) table salt
¼ teaspoon (1.25 g) salt substitute (potassium-based), such as Lite Salt or Morton Salt Substitute
2 tablespoons (30 g) sugar
