Due to the overwhelming interest in kettlebells, the widespread void of coaching effectiveness education available, and the number of aches, pains and injuries associated with inappropriate training technique and protocols, the World Kettlebell Club (WKC) asked me to design performance, breathing, joint mobility and compensatory movement programs to properly energize, prepare and unload tissues for kettlebell lifters.

These programs have been documented for public use in my new DVD series, Scott Sonnon's Official Kettlebell Foundation (http://www.kettlebellfoundation.com) - the official programs you need to serve as the foundation to kettlebell lifting. As you'll see in the DVD course, I included lessons on the most foundational kettlebell exercises as well; plus a basic training protocol progression that will safely allow you to find the results that you want.

The Official Kettlebell Foundation Programs met with such great success and appeal worldwide, that individuals, teams, agencies and clubs have requested instruction. I cannot merely certify people in kettlebell lifting, since these programs derive from an intimate understanding of Circular Strength Training® (CST). They're taught within the signature "3 Ring" concept of CST, and disected through the 7 Key Components of CST.

The WKC asked me to prepare our instructor cadre to teach these programs, so I've established a new kettlebell division for RMAX, and will be conducting the first CST Instructor Kettlebell Specialist Certification on February 22 in Bellingham, Washington. Only returning CST Instructors or trainees of CST Omicron Cadre may register, for the above stated reasons: this is not a separate certification - you must be a CST in order to comprehend the manner in which these skills are assembled and presented in programmatic format.

Registration information can be found HERE (http://www.profcs.com/SecureCart/SecureCart.aspx?mid=0A4E3CD9-8AFA-464B-ACFD-2BA5E1FCF8BE&pid=6977ef1ac07564f2aa0f416542e51c3d).

As a Certified CST-KS, you will be licensed to teach the Official Kettlebell Foundation:

5 kettlebell-specific breathing techniques
12 foundational kettlebell lifts
29 kettlebell-specific joint mobility warm-up program
24 kettlebell-specific compensatory yoga cool-down program
various training protocols and programs for integrating within overall fitness, sports-performance, specific-applications.
Location: Fox Hall, Hampton Inn, 5-9PM

Great news, Coach! Do you anticipate this being a regular feature of CST seminar weekends? I'd love to attend this in late '09.

Sean,

Yes, we'll be rolling out specialization workshops for CSTs in various other equipment you've seen featured in TACFIT.

Because of Coach Sonnon's relationship with the WKC, will the KS cert also fall under the AKC?

Here is my situation:

After Coach Sonnon joined forces with Valery, I took the recommendation he posted to the forum and got myself to an AKC cert. I didn't do anything with it. Right after I got certified, I ran into a bunch of heavy family stuff and fell into the vortex.

Much later, I've picked up and dusted off, and am getting on track. My sights are set on Omicron '09. My AKC cert expires in 2009. If I complete CST-KS, will AKC still recognize me as a coach, or would I need to attend an AKC-specific event to recertify?

Cesar,

RMAX and the WKC will continue to have independent certification structures. The CST-KS is specifically for CST Instructors, and the programs therein will not be taught in any other organization or licensing structure. Looking forward to meeting you!

I'm VERY excited to hear this.

What about the Kettlebell program in specific? Any chance that you will be conducting it again at the 2nd 2009 CST Cert?

Sean,

I didn't understand your 1st question regarding, "What about the kettlebell program in specific?" Regarding the 2nd question, yes, it's possible. The demand has been pretty high.
