hello,

at the risk of sounding a bit "ass kissy" here...

have frequently contacted the coaches via private messages as well as posting on the forums. have asked 1000 & 1 questions. at any rate, just heard back from coach murdock... again.

he was offering an answer to a past question. in reading that message, realized something.

these coaches don't just answer our questions and move on to the next... they actually remember all our questions, keep them in mind, and will refer back to the questions, even after we might have forgotten about them.

coaches, you all have been thanked probably a dozen times each by this skull, but just wanted show some proper appreciation for all you do for us.

this sparked a new thought about goals for the new year.

developed a rather esoteric goal here...

new goal for 2009 will be to implement the suggestions each coach has given. now, at this point, some of you may wonder why.

here's why: a very high form of appreciation for advice and guidance is to put said advice and guidance into practice. right coaches?

to that end, at some point, going to post a video clip of your advice, suggestion, or guidance in action, along with the original question that led to it.

so coaches, since you do this for us, just want to do so for you. it may take a little while, but you will see it.

thanks

I like your style. Classy. The highest praise we can give our coaches is to improve ourselves.

Ashtanga teacher Nancy Gilgoff said in an interview:

"I once asked a teacher of mine, Baba Hare Das, “What do the students owe a teacher?” And the answer was, “To do your practice.”

I would also say that to not practice or try the advice would be akin to insulting your teacher.

hello,

coach sonnon. thank you. a lot.

folks, you see? YOU SEE? even the flowcoach takes the time! these coaches could be doing anything. they CHOOSE to do this. to help us. to encourage us. to guide us.

coach sonnon, your style, your coaches style, also classy. very informative. inspirational even.

in the direction of inspiration, would like to offer up this thought to the tribe...

maybe we could all do some vid clips. when the coaches offer advice or guidance. like how to perfect a flow. if we could do that, it would probably make their year.

whattaya say tribe?

you in?

thanks

I completely agree.

I would add one thing to that: paying it forward.

I'm forever mindful of the opportunities that Coach has given me, and I try to pay that forward as often as possible to others who are in need of and deserving of an opportunity. I give a lot of my free time to helping our Instructors and Coaches develop themselves, create their public profile, brainstorm projects, etc. because I feel it's the best way to repay the help that Coach gave me.

We honour our teachers not only by following their coaching advice, but by following their example.

Not to forego trying to trump our virtual nomadic faculty coach, I would add that those who deepen their practice sufficiently and perpetually discover that to truly learn one must pay it forward.
One phenomenon I've observed over the years though is that a few over eager individuals try to teach before learning. RMAXer, flow thyself (1st)

hello,

coach ilano, couldn't agree with you more about that!

hello,

coach murdock, this is not the first time you have said this. in fact, after the first few times you did, kinda took that notion to heart. have put it into practice, too. have done so by putting out the word (that word being rmax/cst) to everybody. getting them to take an interest in their development and to seek something better.

it isn't much, but it seems to be working.

thanks

hello,

coach sonnon, these are words to live by. good guidelines! have been sticking to "the plan", instead of "doing it all at once", and have been introducing others to cst (just showing it to them). they all seem to like it.

thanks

help would be appreciated.

thanks

I don't think you can attach such large files here. You'll have to host the video somewhere. If you don't have a server to upload it to, create an account on a free service like youtube or google video, upload it there, and paste the link over here.

hello,

coach murdock, once again, your advice is gold! will have to figure out how to do that. have a neighbor that has posted on youtube, so will have to ask.

thanks

Hey Lorenzo,

Looks like you have discovered one of the main reasons that so many of us are committed to RMAX - a very dedicated leader with a staff that mirrors his leadership style.

Trickle down at it's finest.

Paying it forward? If I get disappointed, as I gain insight into this thing called health first fitness and others see the benefits of it and I show them what I'm doing and they walk away saying cool, but never go any further, just think how much it would bother the coaches.

So let me also say that the RMAX coaches rock! And may we always prove that by our actions more than our words.

hello,

stevenhogg, that was very aptly put. this will be a very good year to put our collective best foot forward.

you know, hadn't even thought about the sheer disappointment the coaches must experience when someone just walks away. had thought about the tedium of answering endless questions, but not the former. that must be like a kick in the teeth sometimes.

and still the coaches have a good word for us each day.

thanks

hello,

hey tribe! ketfloding!rasintucub posted a thought worth some consideration:

live our lives with greater purpose, with greater meaning, with greater contribution, with greater outcome.

this is a great year to put this into practice. gotta live it.

thanks

hello,

hey tribe. apologies if this rambles a bit. just read an article posted by coach sonnon written by coach jones.

self delusion is the new self confidence.

well well well. there it is. one of the ways the coaches rock, is that they ABSOLUTELY DO NOT ACCEPT MEDIOCRITY.

they answer our questions. to make us better.
they inspire us. so we aspire to better.
they acknowledge their own shortcomings. we can admit ours.
they speak in public. so others will decide to aspire.
they read and gain new knowledge. we can learn from them.
they WORK HARD to achieve what they have.

LET'S WORK HARD TOO! let's contribute to the world around us instead of just claiming to. let's walk the walk now. there is no room for this type of self delusion at rmax. frankly, there shouldn't be room for this type of self deluded thinking anywhere. we don't have to settle for this. coach jones was right. a prize, an accolade, a position, an object... none of these are worth anything if they aren't earned.

coaches, in this regard you all most definitely rock. a lot of us have people looking up to us and looking at us all the time.

it's time for us to rock too, tribe.

so whattaya say, tribe? how are WE going to rock? how are we going to live it?

here is a start: found a camera. figured out youtube. gonna start logging vid clips of training.

this is for the coaches. you are appreciated. now you get to see your advice at work. the videos are a small measure, but they're a start.

thanks
