I'm very honored to accept the position of Master of Ceremonies for the Arnold Fitness Classic Active Aging Festival this March!

Arnold Active Aging Festival

Feel Better, Move Better, Be Better
3rd Arnold Active Aging festival March 6, 2009

Fitness gives you freedom to do the things you want to do.
Physical and financial fitness gives you freedom to play more golf or tennis, play more with your grandchildren, or stay able to do more things for yourself, without needing help from others.

So, if you want to feel better, move better and be better, mark your calendar for Friday March 6, 2009, and come to the 3rd Arnold Active Aging Festival in the Hyatt Regency Hotel Ballroom adjacent to the Greater Columbus Convention Center.

“Active aging sees physical and financial fitness not as a goal for its own sake, but rather as a means to achieve your goals,” said Mike Lorz, chairman of the Arnold Active Aging Festival.

“This day will focus on doing activities, rather than listening to speeches,” Lorz added. Each topic will follow a “tell-show-do” approach, with a brief presentation, followed by a teacher demonstration, and then audience participation guided by professionals.

Expert presenters will include Scott Sonnon, “Flow Coach” of the Internet; Deborah Redder, creator of the SilverSneakers™ program; David Zid, creator of Delay the Disease: Exercise and Parkinson’s Disease; and Frank Forencich, author of The Exuberant Animal and Play as if Your Life Depends on It.

SCOTT SONNON: Master of Ceremonies Scott Sonnon, a popular speaker at the first two Arnold Active Aging Festivals, will guide an entertaining flow between demonstrations, audience activities and games, and ideas and samples available from vendor booths.

Sonnon has been a leader of the wellness revolution for more than 10 years, and is world-renowned for creating programs to help adults maintain pain-free mobility. His Ageless Mobility™ program has proven to be highly effective for people of all ages and fitness levels.

Sonnon suffered debilitating childhood joint disease and motor disorders, and had to develop alternative methods for keeping his joints lubricated and to increase his connective tissue strength. Chiropractors and medical doctors have evaluated his programs and state that his approach helps fight osteoporosis, osteoarthritis, and nerve impingement and tendonitis.

DEBORAH REDDER: Redder is the creator of the nationally-recognized and award-winning SilverSneakers® Group Exercise Program, which provides insurance-sponsored fitness center memberships and group exercise classes to adults who want to improve strength, balance, flexibility and endurance. She’ll lead a low impact, exercise routine, which will include some local VIPs.

DAVID ZID: Zid has been an ACE (American Council on Exercise) accredited trainer in Columbus for 11 years, and is author of Delay the Disease: Exercise and Parkinson’s Disease, which he currently locally to three weekly classes of 60 individuals. Zid will tailor his presentation to persons with Parkinson’s and other diseases, and their caregivers. He then will lead a demonstration class with 40-50 of his regular clients, and attendees at the festival.

FRANK FORENCICH: Forencich is creator of The Exuberant Animal: the Power of Health, Play and Joyful Movement, and Play as if Your Life Depends on It: Functional Exercise and Living for Homo Sapiens. You will learn how to transform your body through a multi-disciplinary approach that is invigorating, liberating and life-changing.

Attendees will be encouraged to watch and play several games, to include archery, dancing, fencing, table tennis, race walking, and games using balls, stretch bands, and more.

Other ideas and activities featured at the 3rd Arnold Active Aging festival will include:

Start your engines! Warm-up and lube your joints by gently releasing synovial fluid, your body’s natural lubrication that is created from the food you eat.

Yoga to feel better! After your joints are lubricated, you can stretch and move more freely.

Exercise to move better. Exercise with a purpose, to increase your own reach and range of motion, without help from others.

Stepping out! Wellness walking and race walking with friends or by yourself, or in age-bracket competition.

Adult nutrition. Tips for easy, healthful eating pleasure. And plenty of samples too!

Grow stronger. Using light weights, like soup cans or milk jugs, you can build muscle and bone mass, rather than continuing to lose strength.

Delay the Disease: Exercise and Parkinson’s Disease. An emerging reality is the positive effect of exercise on the course of Parkinson’s and other diseases.

Play like your life depends on it. Demos and participation in dance, table tennis, archery, fencing and other games.

Travel when and where you want. AAA has established tour bus specials to “the Arnold” from across Ohio. You can customize your own travel plans too!

Economic freedom and wealth retention. During a difficult economy, you will discover ways to live frugally and avoid some of the “scams” that are all around us.

GROUP TICKET DISCOUNTS: In keeping with these themes of physical and financial freedom, the 3rd Arnold Active Aging Festival has developed Group Package Benefits for pre-event sales. Regular admission to the Arnold Sports Festival is through a $10 ticket that admits you to 14 same-day, including the Active Aging Festival.
But our Group Package Benefits include ticket discounts (buy 7 tickets, get 10), curbside drop-off at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, and free parking and shuttle service for group drivers. Call 614 443-3529 for details, or for further information

See you at the Arnold Active Aging Festival, for a wealth of activities and ideas to feel better, move better and be better!
