Hello.
This posting comes due to the advice of Coach Sonnon, who was good enough to reply to my statement at another location in this forum. I appreciate your input and look forward to your training routine.
Goals:
To acquire advanced abilities (speed, reflex action, striking power, agility, etc.) that will enable me to reach (eventually) high levels in the R.O.S.S system.
Equipment available:
15 lb, and 20 lb Clubbells; complete Body FLow video series; complete Freedom By Degree video series; complete Fisticuffs video series; complete Leg Fencing video series; complete Zdorovye video series; complete Warrior Wellness video series; Be Breathed video; Clubbell Training Video; complete Maximology video series; double-ball speed striking bag; "Human Torso" striking dummy; Steel-Belted Radial tire leg striking unit.
Training Background:
Some martial arts work, but in light of the advanced state of ROSS components, nothing worth mentioning.
Have done the entire Zdorovye/Warrior Wellness course of drills for about 2 years and have what I would consider quite a good degree of range-of-motion, flexibility, and joint strength.
Did several months worth of training with Clubbells over this last winter and managed to advance to a point where the 15 pound units were getting very easy and almost effortless to use.
During this spring and later winter, I got into Body Flow and progressed to the point where I could do the drills in Tape #1 well (no struggle, strain, or effort). I also got into the "Weaponizing Drills" of the Fistifcuffs series, but I have yet to use or study Maximology or Leg Fencing. Note that I dropped the Clubbell training once I started Fisticuffs due to fear that the muscular development caused by Clubbell use might inhibit the maximum development of joint coordination/speed/fluidity that Coach Sonnon exhibited when demonstrating the various drills in the Fisticuff videos.
Injury History:
Nothing to speak of - no serious breaks, sprains, tears, pulls, etc at any point in my life.
Training Availability:
7 days per week, but the time during these days can vary. One or two hours at most, half an hour to 40 minutes at the least.
Ultimate Intention:
Realizing that in actual hand-to-hand street combat with enemies bent on doing me serious (if not fatal) harm, possibly the most important atributes I must work for are speed, coordination, uninhibited movement, and exceptionally quick reflexes. Therefore, I would like to build my skills and ability to deal with these sorts of situations as highly as possible. This, in my mind (but I am always open to suggestions) means speed, reflex response, body movement coordination, joint strength/function have to be developed to a high level and kept there. I like Clubbell work very much and know that they are perfect for developing the strength needed for grappling and close-quater confrontations where maneuvering with the legs is not possible, but am concerned that if they are not used in a specific manner, the development they offer could detract from the speed/fluidity/joint coordination functions/abilities which the drills in Fisticuffs and Leg Fencing offer. Also, I am not sure how Body Flow, Maximology (and any of the other video courses which I do not yet own) can be fit in and applied to reach this sort of functionality. So, in a nutshell, I would like useable/appliable strength, but agility, speed, and so forth that can be applied in real world street combat situations according to the principled of ROSS (which I intend to study and master as soon as time and money allow in the future!). And with this in mind, I look forward to your training guidelines.
Sincere thanks,
Kosto Barry Granlund
