hello,

hey tribe, check out http://www.acomfortablesoul.com/blog.

there is an article entitled "paradigm - is your map current". it is a good read for those interested in setting goals. have been thinking about this sort of thing for a couple months now, and this article is a big help.

there is a lot of other good stuff over there too.

thanks

Kathryn has some great stuff over there. I always enjoy reading it.

She also writes the health-first column for RMAX Magazine. Be sure to check that out.

hello,

you know coach murdock, it seems that every time you speak, there is a lesson at work, either intended or inadvertent. in this case, jumped to the "health first" in vol. 6 iss. 4 of rmax magazine.

coach woodall performs an interesting experiment. it is interesting, because it is performed by a diverse group (different ages), it got good results, and everyone stuck with it beyond the experiments conclusion.

suddenly, sweeping changes to ones lifestyle don't seem so daunting. happily, this removes a lot of "excuse ammo" from the equation.

thanks

Hi and thanks for stopping by my blog and the column in the RMAX Magazine (there is a ton of great stuff in each issue so make sure to check out the other articles when you are there)! I'm really glad that you enjoyed what you read and it is good to hear that you are going to put them to use.

If goals and making change are a challenge for you, there is an article on the blog called New Day's Evolution that you might enjoy. Significant results often come from mundane changes applied daily.

Take care and thanks again!
Kathryn
ps. Just for clarification, I'm an instructor instead of a coach...but I am working my way there one day at a time. ;):)

hello,

acomfortablesoul, did the same thing to wildman a while back. apologies for that.

anyway, yes. part of the goal setting process that is difficult has been DECIDING what the goals should be.

goal setting has become something of a mission lately. been doing a lot of "introspective examination". asking questions. this may be the beginnings of autolysis as described by madyogi.

rather than make rash decisions, have taken several months (and may take several months more) to ask question, think, refine. anyone can ask "so, what do you want out of life"... and anyone can just blurt out an answer they think sounds good.

tired of blurting out answers. time to change. thus, a keen interest in articles like what you have written. it also helps that your articles tend to be WELL written! always a plus!

it was especially motivating to see that others had undergone a transformative process, and stuck with it, even after the "goal" had been achieved. that must have been great for you to witness!

have been asking:

what is the self?
what is the lie?
what is the trap?
what is the illusion?
what is the madness?
what is the stucture?
what is the flow?

in accordance with coach murdock's approach to training (rmax training group manual), one must be brutally honest with oneself. anyone can come here looking for something better.

looking to make changes... looking to be a better fighter... looking to lose weight... whatever.

this all misses the point. the flow. the flow is the better life. finding now that life takes a lot of work. life takes a lot of brutally honest self evaluation. life takes a lot of integrity and accountability to improve and live well.

acomfortablesoul, guess the point here is that sometimes, you find that place, that group and you decide it's time for a little brutality. you find that it's time to destroy something beautiful.

not sure if this is making sense to you (or any of you), but your articles sure help to focus the thoughts in a way that is productive.

thanks

Hello Lorenzo,

I do get what you are saying. The past few years have been filled with transformations.

While I understand your desire to take time and really define yourself, remember to pick a few small things to work on daily during that time. You might be taking time to decide a large decision, but time is still ticking away and you had might as well be getting benefit out of it. Even if you just do 3 small things each day: 1 to improve your health, 1 to improve your happiness, and 1 to improve a relationship you have with someone...you are taking actions now that will help you later regardless of the goal(s) that you decide upon.

I've also found out these last couple of years that there is very little that is brutal about brutal honesty with yourself...the ego may think that it is brutal but the rest of your life will respond with growth and love.

:)

hello,

acomfortablesoul, agreed, time is ticking. have been making small adjustments... just don't want to spend a ton of time making such adjustments... mindlessly. at some point, there needs to be a point. does this make sense?

held on to a lot of "dreams" for a lot of time, simply because making an ACTUAL decision was so alien. so, went for a long time spending a lot of effort convincing the self that pursuit of such goals was valid.

got tired of the crap. all of it. it has been so long since the crap was wiped away, that the "picture" underneath has been forgotten. so it will take time, but this investigation is coming along.

still, appreciate the "pointers". they help.

thanks
