Active Isolated Stretching and Strengthening protocols are used worldwide by trainers and therapists. The method is gentle and works well for pretty much anyone. I've seen great success with AIS in my own training and bodywork practices.

For people struggling with specific issues of tight/short soft tissues, AIS can help overcome longstanding limitations. Though very different in form, intent, and application, AIS is complemented very well by CST practice. AIS is intended for use as a form of therapy, and is suitably used as such. As a form of health-first exercise, CST helps to restore and train functional use of the increased ROM one gets from AIS practice. For clients that are particularly challenged, this is a very potent combination.
