Due to my job and shift work I sometimes find myself faced with a metcon day on little or no sleep and I'm wondering what my best approach would be. Historically, I've just pushed through but now that I'm wiser, that's code for older, I've realized this just leads to more setbacks than gains. Should I take a day off, recover, and then hit the metcon or should I just pick up as if I had completed that day and move into my no intensity day and stay on the 4x7 schedule? Thanks for any input.

Add another mobility or (pre)compensation day
But layoff the metcon
You'll have even greater peaking as a result on your next metcon day
- this only applies to athletes like you who do train consistently and could benefit from an extra low or no day... Since your typically under-recovered (and ONLY sub-prime because of that rather than insufficient adaptive stress)
