4- Most Clubbell®® swings in an hour with 25lb CBs - 1490 (Coach Sonnon)-NOT SURE ABOUT THIS ONE
hello,
msiders? really? room full of people, camera rolling? coach jones has even talked about this at flowbox.
bear in mind, that while these are superhuman numbers, coach sonnon has been doing this a LOT longer than any of us, so his technique will be a lot better, making such an accomplishment easier than it would be for us.
thanks

Matt is a strong CST athlete. I certainly hope that we've refined the CST process so that people do not take as long as I did to develop great numbers. My goal is to create opportunities and inspirational goals so that my students can surpass them.

My apologies to Coach Sonnon:blush:. I have not been CSTin' for very long. When I first arrived at the forum I tried to read all the available posts, but it seems a few escaped me. This was a truly an amazing feat:bow: that makes my hands hurt just thinking about it.
I was just curious to see what amazing feats members of the tribe have done with Clubbells. Plus after I do the TBF with the Bruisers and before someone commits me I might have to see how close I can come to a couple of these amazing records.

hello,
coach sonnon, msiders IS a strong cst athlete. simply meant that it is easy to be dazzled by numbers (which ARE dazzling, neh?), but such numbers start to make sense if one considers WHO is achieving those numbers.
in this case, yourself, the one who has DONE the refining, combined with years of experience at THAT particular swing, will have an easier (relatively speaking... it didn't look easy at all) time getting 1400 than most of us. further, as you stated in the original thread about the 1400+, this is something that one must be particularly motivated to do... for the sake of doing it, not for any other reason.
msiders, from your response, it appeared you might not be relating to that aspect of the 1400+... the seeming lack of practical application... no certification, no belt, no prize, no nothin'. just coach sonnon all by his lonesome, finding out how deep the rabbit hole goes. easy enough to lose perspective. we (us regular humans) have specific goals (be it cert, or a sport, or weight loss), so our rationale for doing anything cst related is usually going to be quite different than what (seemingly) led to the 1400+.
now... just so you know... haven't even done a single mill yet. attempted a couple... not even one correctly...
ask coaches jones and haggard, or stevenhogg... all attempts have been a disaster.
so, the both of YOU have put yours online. easy to talk smack when the smack talker isn't DOING, neh?
make no mistake msiders... not judging here. no room to.
huge respect to both of you for "putting it out there".
thanks

Matt, you should do a forum search on the best ICS times. We haven't had a competition for awhile.

hello,
msiders, right there with ya' amigo. hhhmmmm, have been putting off that dark pact. perhaps now is as good a time as any.
on a serious note, that sounds like a decent project. a while back was wondering what the best times/most reps, by who/when. this would be a handy reference, or at least a motivational tool!

Who would be interested in a Cross-World Clubbell® Sport Competition? We could select a date in a couple months for the competition day. For those people interested but who cannot attend a location with a CST Coach, they can participate virtually and post a video.
However, I'd like to have the rankings updated. The bar's been lifted quite a bit in the past few years.

God I had forgotten about that. How time flies. I remember the horrible feeling of trying to perform those swipes. Felt like trying to swing a 25 pound bar of soap with a penguin flipper.
Ahhhh, good times.

We could do this using 15's, right?
Is this the 'junior' division?

I'm interested, but I haven't touched the 25's yet. I'll stick with the 15's if there's a class for that.

Everyone competes on June 6th 2009, no matter what country. Post videos to youtube.com to officially participate, but you can still unofficially join in without video. Post video by midnight Pacific timezone June 6, 2009.
Rules:
Double Swipe (2 clubbells): most number of repetitions in 10 minutes without clubbells touching the ground. One repetition requires both clubbells to be completely behind the head, and then completely behind the knees. Clubbells can be held or rested on the, but not below the knees, on the feet or ground.
Alternating Swipe (1 clubbell): most number of repetitions in 10 minutes without clubbell touching the ground. ONE HALF repetition requires passing centerline in front with elbow locked until passing centerline to the side, with the clubbell finally (at least partially) passing the centerline behind the head. Hands can be freely alternated at any time. However, total repetitions equal the common number between the two hands; i.e. if 124 mills completed right side, and 126 left side, then only 124 total points are counted.
No more than 30 minutes between the two events for rest.
Due to consistency of weight distribution, only authentic clubbells can officially compete, but you can participate unofficially with any club. The clubbell is the most difficult design to swing, which is why.
Winner of each weight class will win a t-shirt. We're working to have a trophy as well.
Weight classes:
10lbs Clubbell
15lbs Clubbell
20lbs Clubbell
25lbs Clubbell
35lbs Clubbell
Once we have a good number of successful 35lbs Clubbell athletes, then we'll add a 45lbs Clubbell weight class.
