Howdy you all!

Recently I have found that my hands are sweating more profusely while working with clubbells than before. This is making it somewhat difficult for me to perform cascading gripping while still being able to consistently hold the neck of the clubbell in the same location.

I know that normally it is advised NOT to tape the necks of the clubbells since the coating it uses is supposed to mitigate my problem in general, but for me it does not seem to be enough.

Any suggestions for a particular tape to use to increase my grip tracion on the clubbell neck.

Thanks

Dunno about tape, but I like Tite-Grip. It's an anti-perspirant hand lotion. Not sticky, so it's not really adding anything to your grip. It just makes your hands less sweaty.

I have been using an 'eco ball' for those times when hands are too sweaty to hold.

I assume you've tried chalk... but if you haven't, you could try that. My hands are sort of unnaturally dry, but my workout buddies use chalk to good effect on sweaty hands.

the eco ball is a good idea, the chalk is a less good idea on the clubs, its great on kb's or bars but on clubs all the selective hand movement turns it into slick slick paste.

the best idea is to keep the sweet from running down your arms and into your hands which is where most of the sweat seems to come from.

i took a cue from circus aerial girls, and started using "arm warmers" (80's style leg warmer for your arms). their large amount of surface area from the wrist to almost the elbow will soak up all the dripping arm sweat that you can possibly generate.

DIY sweat catchers (aka. arm warmers).

take a nice new pair of white athletic tube socks and cut the toe off of them. then you have a white elastic tube that fits nicely on the arm and is already a knit fabric designed to be absorbent.

total cost for a 6 pack of new tube socks is about $7. so your total cost of a pair of sweat catchers is a little over a dollar.

side effect: you look a little bit like Conan when swinging clubs.

DO NOT TAPE YOUR CLUBBELLS...!

After strongly advising someone not to tape their Clubbell handles, they went ahead and did it anyway. This person then proceeded to do the Trial by Fire and tear up their hands like I've never seen anyone tear up their hands before or since...

So, I would really recommend that you do not tape your Clubbells. The Eco ball mentioned above is the best solution I've found. It walks the line between sufficient grip and too much "stickyness."

Hope that helps.

Cheers,
Adam
