hello,

coaches jones and haggard really did a nice job (as always) on presenting some relatively complex material in an easy-to-follow way. they both manage to keep the morale level high with humor, yet maintain a professional presentation.

we have begun to delve into "range control": how to properly transition to and from one range to another. one of the things that makes coach jones such a winner, is that he keeps his theoretical explanations short, yet thorough, and constructs intelligent practical application exercises that really bring the material to life. following the coaches' program, it is easy to develop a solid understanding of exactly where the techniques fit into the scheme of mma.

as usual, the other team members were a lot of fun to train with. everyone had a good time, and worked up a good sweat by the end of the seminar. it's too bad the seminar wasn't longer, as the time really just flew by...

a note on jonathan (tcc on the forum)...

that man is FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSST!!!!!!!!!!

you should have seen coach jones giggling with demonic glee every time tcc would be moving and striking... coach has big plans for tcc, and it is gonna be fun to see tcc drop someone in the first 15 seconds!!!!

tell you what tribe, even with a 100 pound weight advantage, sparring with him is gonna SUUUUUUUUUUUCK! you see, tcc thinks his speed is due to his stature (about 130 pounds).

no.

have trained with others his size/weight, and they don't move as he does. you will have to see him to believe it! others can certainly move their hands quickly, or bob and weave quickly, but their lateral movement is just as slow as the rest of us.

not tcc. his lateral movement is unreal. the timing relationship between his hands and feet is also unusually precise.

he is gonna be a god, and the coaches are looking forward to it!

in short, was very glad to be back! the coaches jones and haggard really put together an excellent seminar, and everyone had a good time. looking forward to the next one!

thanks

It was great to work with everyone as always. I could not be more pleased at the progress everyone is making. When looked at in the context of time spent training (once a month, four hours a class and with a few scattered private 1 hour sessions) my expectations for all of the guys are unrealistic. However, with the combination of the Flowbox curriculum, incremental progression, and the work ethic of the group these "unrealistic" demands are being met and often exceeded.

The only downside this time around was my horribly incorrect prediction regarding the outcome of the Pacquiao/Hatton fight. Despite my almost perfect record of predictions for this year - I took this one in the shorts. Well deserved congratulations to Pacquiao, and Coach Freddie Roach and Michael Moorer on planning and executing a great fight.

Anyway, looking forward to seeing and training with everyone next time.

If anyone is planning on being in the LA area and would like to come train with us, contact Coach Haggard on the forum for times, dates and prices.

I must concur, antoher awesome seminar as usual. Except this time I think Coach Jones kept a piece of my soul. So much information and work.

Lorenzo, It was great to finally meet you and get some training in.

Coach Jones, sorry had mis-predicted the outcome of the fight, I am going to start calling Hatton, the mimiature Lidell, just can't keep his hands up.

I can't wait till next month hopefully in the new facility:D

I do seem to remember something about "protecting yourself at all times".;)

Lorenzo,

yeah we just keep working because there is so much information to take in and so little time to get some of the kinks worked out with Coach Haggard and Coach Jones.

Every month I realize I know less and less about boxing and I love it!!

hello,

w_brister, look at the brighter side... soon coaches jones and haggard will have thier place open and you will be able to train more often! that might make the learning curve seem less steep!

thanks

Lorenzo,

I actually don't mind the steep learning curve, for me the more challenging it is the more I tend to learn. Plus every chance we get Jim and I work on our form, sometimes it does scare people in public at my wife's coffee shop.

hello,

w_brister, if you can't scare people at the coffee shop, where CAN you scare 'em?!?! hahahahahahahahahahaha!

it's good that you guys get together to train. anyone can show up to a class or seminar, and work hard while there, but many don't follow up after. definitely speeds the process along, neh?

have a good one!

thanks
