I was wondering what you guys recommend in terms of "healing" exercises for shoulders.

I hurt my left shoulder in 2001 while weight lifting. I was doing a heavy set of inclined chest press and my shoulder gave in.

Now, I apparently have one ligament injured. I don't know the name of it. However, I can't lie down on my left shoulder for too long and and sustained strain is uncomfortable.

I did start IntuFlow with the BER program. Should I simply stick to IntuFlow or add to it?

Thanks

Alan

Alan,

I'd suggest you seek out a physical therapist that can work with you directly. You might PM Coach Ilano for guidance as well.

Please keep us up to date on your journey:)

I'm impressed. In other forums, people are eager to give advice.
I am seeing a doctor, I am waiting to have some money to be able to do the tests he wants me to do. Should be done next month. I'll keep you posted as soon as I found out.

Thanks,

Alan

Alan, just another word of caution...

Though it may seem like overkill, i'd highly recommend being checked out by two doctors. I had a similar inury several years back which was misdiagnosed as less sever than it actually was which caused me to have problems over the following years. In fact i'm just now reaching full recovery.

It costs money but it's worth it to be sure.

Thanks for the recommendation.
My doctor is actually my karate teacher and specialized in sports medicine. So far, it's going ok. I am also the type to ask millions of questions before doing anything, especially when it comes to my health. Something doesn't sound right, I simply don't do it.

I had the same issue in the past for an ankle injury (torn ligaments) and it took a while also to recover.

thanks for the advice.

No problem, Alan.

The doc I went to first was excellent. He was the "best in town" and the one all the college sports teams and minor league sports teams sent their athletes to. He also specialized in sports medicine. The issue isn't one of competence, but of covering the bases. Anyone can have a bad day or make a mistake. Especially when, in an effort to not make you take a bunch of expensive tests that you "might" not need.
