"Attending a CST IC Seminar (http://www.rmaxi.com/om/cst-cert.php) will make all of this very clear. You’ll learn not only the organization of a “health first” fitness approach, but more importantly the tools that will allow you to help yourself and your clients. The biggest epiphany for people who attend CST IC Seminars (http://www.rmaxi.com/om/cst-cert.php) is how the 3 “streams” of CST integrate synergistically to produce “health first” fitness. It’s not unusual to see mouth’s hanging open in awe."

"This has been said by other people about earlier seminars but I left wondering why I waited so long to attend. In three days the coaches went over everything that I'd managed to figure out from the books and videos and got me doing it better than when I started." - Steve Ames

"If a person is planning on certification or not, a CST seminar is immensely valuable". - Adam Skogen, CST, NASM-CPT

"For those who have not been to a seminar, please consider going. You will not be disappointed. All the things we say are nice, but some things have to be experienced to be believed or understood." - Dennis Haggard, CST Coach

Scott, do you know if I can get CEU's from the NSCA for CST certification? Thanks!

Scott Sonnon

The NSCA requires a significant monetary investment for each event (they don't register systems), and they won't award CEUs to certification seminars. We decided that this wasn't in our best interest, and that we're focusing on our own organization.

Okay, thanks for the response Coach... I just didn't know, and I'm trying to plan my budget accordingly.

Thanks again,
Wil

Another question for you, Coach... or for anyone who can answer: How does the intuitive assessment protocol you teach at the cert differ from something like Gray Cook's Functional Movement Screen? I'm trying to decide which would be a better fit for working with and evaluating my clients...

not to be too cheeky but seeing as how your asking here which system do you think is prefered? ;) In all seriousness I am not all the framiliar with Cooks FMS but IAP I have experienced a bit more and its what I prefer. I'm already signed up for the August cert in fact. CST still isnt exactly mainstream but most of us wouldnt be here if we didnt feel it was the best option. Hope that helps a bit.

HereBeADragon, I'm not really offended or anything, but it does strike me as slightly cheeky since I didn't ask what was preferred around here (which is obvious to both of us), but for clarification of what Coach understands to be the differences b/w the two systems of assesment. There's a difference.

I am familiar with the FMS on a basic level, but don't really know what the IAP is or what information it specifically provides those applying it. It sounds interesting, which is why I'd like to know more before I make my decision...

Thanks for the input though :)

Hi Will,

Coach Sonnon is finishing up the Tacfit seminar today and the other coaches are either over there too or on their way home.

If a movement assessment is something you will want to do right away, then perhaps it is in your best interest to attend the Gray Cook seminar, because for the CST movement analysis it is only introduced at our Instructor level.

It is not until the Coach level that you are taught the process in detail. That is at a minimum of a year after passing your first IC seminar. The reason it takes so long to learn is because it is based on a thorough understanding of the system, which we evaluate based upon your personal improvements in CST practice.

The Gray Cook FMS is a good tool, and would be a good thing for you to learn. Good luck to you!

Hi Thanks for your reply, Coach Ilano. An assessment system isn't necessarily something that I'll need right away... it's just something I want to add to my professional toolbox, and I'm willing to invest a couple of years in learning and refining my skills in a system. So the time factor of learning and being able to apply the system isn't my first priority. Utility in solving my clients' issues is, so for the financial & time investments I'll be making I want to maximize my return and I want to have a decent understanding of what I'm looking at before investing.

Thanks for the info...

Sincerely,
Wil

Wil,

A good way to see if the movement analysis is something that would suit you, is to get an assessment done by a CST Coach or Head Coach. In person is best, of course, but online consults (through video) can be done as well.

you know it occurs to me that this type of information could be of great use to those who are considering CST certification or are just generally curious about how an assessment works. Perhaps someone should write an article for an upcoming CST magazine?
