I seen this and it looks neat but is it just to get your money?

What do you guys think about extreme range of motion as it would apply to Shaolin kung fu? Thanks

Is there any one thing that would improve range of motion in the legs more then others. Thanks

Sean.

Here's the thing...

There's no secret. These folks train at the temple and have from a very young age. It's their life and it's what they do - day in and day out. The youngsters practice Tongzigong (forgive my poor pinyan spelling) which translates roughly to "virgin boy execises" and the idea is to put them through rigorous bending, stretching and contorting before there bodies have matured. The body adapts and through dilligent practice over years and years, the result is what you see there.

Is it just to get your money? Well, whoever put it out is paying for a website and the production of whatever material they are offering, so i'm quite sure that making money is at least a large part of what they are trying and hoping to do.

Is extreme range of motion important? Depends on your goals but what is certain is that full range of motion IS. There is nothing better out there than IntuFlow for that purpose. It's tempting to see someone else's abilities or tricks and want to be able to do them too. However, we all have to crawl before we can walk. Before you can even begin to approximate any skill (extreme or common) you have to start at the beginning. In my opinion, there's no better place to start than with IntuFlow.

As far as your question about extreme range of motion as it applies to Shaolin Kung Fu, well again it depends on your goals. Understand first that there are many things going on there. With most martial arts, especially Chinese arts, there is the performance and the practical. The demonstration and the real training. For the public and for the real students. What type and manner of Shaolin Kung Fu you study will determine what attributes are necessary. Some methods require ridiculous levels of flexibility and joint range of motion - others not so much. Some are strength dependant while others are not.

To answer your question about flexibility and ROM for the legs. IntuFlow is the bomb. Also, Coach Wilson put out a great resource a while back called Freedom of Movement which is also a goldmine. The 4 Corner balance drill should be practiced by anyone who considers (or would like to consider) themseves a kicker.

Hope this helps.

Will there be big flexibility gains when using Intu flow then?

Functionally, yes, you will be able to kick higher and reach all kinds of funky ranges of motion. Technically speaking, Intuflow addresses these concerns through a mechanism other than attempting to increase the plasticity of the muscles and other soft tissues, which conventional stretching aims to do.
