I am suuper excited, and just need to share.. I have been training under the direction of Coach Ryan Hurst for some time now. I was on a very 'steady diet' of CST back in the spring months with the plans of becoming certified. I had felt the strongest and healthiest that I had been in a long time. Then, one spring morning I was asked to dance at an outdoor dance and drumming festival. With confidence and vibrance, I performed and then "BOOM!" I injured myself..pretty bad. I did a jump that had been in my repertoire for ages, but I landed improperly. A few weeks later I was 'diagnosed' with a probable ACL rupture of my right knee. I couldn't get up or down the stairs swiftly, couldn't straighten my leg, couldn't sleep without a pillow under my leg, the list goes on and on... The doctor's were ready to schedule my surgery. I was not ready to 'go there.'

Coach Hurst was awesome. He consistently supported my situation with knowledge, and genuine awareness. He encouraged me to work on Intu-Flow®, and with that practice my knee steadily began to improve.

Although I began to improve, my knee was still continually flexed/bent. It exhausted me. Squats were super tough, leg thread, and shin box killed!! It was impossible to do the work that I had previously fallen in love with. My knee was really vulnerable to lateral movement.

So now, for the exciting part...one month ago I go hiking. I'm on a pretty easy trail. I slip on gravel which takes me down to my left side causing my injured leg/knee to slide away from me. I feel a 'pop', and then some pain. I was able to get up after the initial shock and finish the trail. I walked with caution, and keept the awareness of the situation in full focus. So, two days later, my injured leg feels completely different! I can straighten it nearly all the way! I feel more stability, and less vulnerability. I'm stunned! Who knew that falling down a mountainside could lead to such joy!

Today, I worked on flow fit. I am able to do at least 50% more of the work...ACCURATELY!!! Without pain...and with confidence. Also, since the accident, I had been wearing a custom-made knee brace during my workouts. Over the past week, I've been free of it! I'm sooo excited, and am 'getting back on the horse!'
Just had to share, and put this out there! Thanks for listening to my rant! :D

That's unbelievably good. It's kind of like those stories I used to hear about people banging their heads and waking up cured of some kind of long-term ailment.

It's also a good reminder that: 1) we're never immune from injury, and 2) we should never give up on recovery.

Thanks for sharing that.

Thanks so much everyone! I'm so grateful to be able to move ahead. (literally) It also revs up my interests surrounding injury prevention. The physical and emotional attachment to the fear of being 'unable to recover' from a serious injury can be so deep. Funny how recovery takes you through a full spectrum of colors!
