from news of weird, but true:
The Continuing Crisis: A man identified in China's Chongqing Evening News in November as Mr. Zhang, 32, admitted he is competitive with his wife and "never wants to lose an argument," but inevitably his contentiousness leaves him with "bruises and scars all over" because Mrs. Zhang is a kung fu master. After negotiations led by Mrs. Zhang's parents, she agreed by contract to limit any beatings to no more than once a week, with a parent-administered penalty for exceeding that.
it's the funniest thing i've read in a month.

Just goes to show you. In a relationship compromise is everything!

Murphy's Law of Relationships - The woman always has the last word in any argument. Anything the man says after that is the start of a new argument.
Addendum: Unless the woman is a kungfu master, whereupon anything the man says after the last word is the start of the mother of all beatdowns.

If only Mr. Zhang knew of shock absorption and having a win win attitude, then they would have synergy.

I hate to be a kill joy and also admit my own gilt in making insensitive replys but why is it that a wife battering a husband is acceptable but if it were the other way around no one would find it funny? I think we have lost perspective here as this is not a movie but a real case of serious abuse.

To play the devil's advocate, I'd say that if Mr Zhang wants to be a hypercompetitive smartmouth (believe me, I see this sort of thing all the time), he deserves a smack in the mouth or ten if he can't back up his talk. People need to learn to take responsibility for their words, sometimes in a very physical way.

"no, really sir, this is for your own good."
while herebedragons brings up a good point, this point really isn't the point (anyone get lost right there?).
what seems to be funny here isn't the abuse itself, or the extent of that abuse. instead, the humor seems to stem from the method used to "resolve" it.
thanks
