I sent the following to Scott earlier this morning:

Good Morning Scott,

Thank you for your invitation to this exciting extension to CST and health.

A question for you - can we include in this "closed" part of the forum a section where we can bounce our ideas, as they evolve, off other participants. An example is as below:

Too Much “ Inappropriate Noise “.

My thoughts are congealing around the concept of too much inappropriate stimulation both internally and externally, feeding off lack of impulse control being mitigating factors in a range of problem areas ranging from ADD to addition/additive personalities etc.

I am hoping Rick won’t mind if I highlight some of an email I sent him a week or so back:
.................................................. ..................................................
I have done a bit of research and have been chasing down several threads. One concept I encourage people to consider is that of Impulse: my mind triggers on the subconscious preparation that occurs in the pre-motor area of the brain, and volition or the control of those preparations as to whether they proceed or are brought to a halt. I can explain it verbally but have not had the time to sit down, put my thoughts onto paper and clarify them, and then provide the research findings to support my propositions. I do have a book on the way out to Oz at the moment that may give me that research.

I have a school break in about 6 weeks - if I get the opportunity to clarify the afore mentioned, I shall send some of this material through to you, if you are interested of course.

At present, I am striving to introduce the kids more to their bodies and encouraging them to direct their energy into some of Scott's material where they may listen more internally, and hopefully become more aware of the distractions/unnecessary noise that they trigger on from external sources at present. Feeling success and setting themselves more intrinsic, achievable goals etc etc I believe will also encourage them to self-monitor more and benefit them greatly.
.................................................. .................................................. ...

I finally accessed “Potatoes, Not Prozac” and “Sugar Addict’s Total Recovery Program “ on the weekend and have started processing Potatoes. The bit I have processed resonates deeply within me personally, and in my various roles as father, partner, friend and teacher.

Spoke to a friend last night who has been on the wagon (AA) and not touched grog for over 20 years. He is pleased that there is more research happening, and if anything helps anyone, he is a 1000% behind it. He is very aware of the affect of sugars in his own and kids’ lives and is very pleased information is getting out there.

We are definitely on the right track.

Some of my ideas initially are "way out there", and it is often many years before some big shot comes along with the same conclusion (and sometimes the research to back it up ) and becomes the guru around the world. I don't give a rats about being a bigshot, but I do value greatly someone or a small group of synergetic people who can run with an idea, go lateral, and bounce something back.

Although I do have a small group of people already around the world that I can do this with, I believe this group with the access it will enjoy, has the very great potential to also evolve this way.

Exciting times - yet it really does continue to "evolve naturally".

I thank you for continuing to allow it to evolve.

Cheers

Scott has indicated this forum should be fine so I present it initially as it is.

( Some of the the kids I mention are those I am working with and whose program I describe in Brainworx in the Program Logs. )
Any reflections / insights you would like to contribute are greatly welcomed.

Cheers
Randell :D

Randall,

I have found the amount of *noise* I have is directly correlated to the quality of my food program. I would be happy to help you find a food program that will perfectly complement your CST work.

Good Morning Kathleen,

Sorry that it has taken so long to get back to you. I have just finished off a couple of major projects, and now taken the brakes off and allowed the next couple of projects to gain momentum. All this whilst setting exams, getting the kids prepped, doing marking and getting report cards ready.

I too am finding the amount of noise relates to my food as well as to my quality of movement health.

"I would be happy to help you find a food program that will perfectly complement your CST™ work." ......... Thank you - to do your time justice, I believe I should probably pay it forward and log my food/day in greater detail on the forum. If so, I would therefore ask if possible, that we start said logs in about two weeks after the kids start their school holidays, I have all the school requirements completed, and I can do the logs in detail.

Getting CST rolling at school is also gathering momentum, and I am now encouraging other staff , the kids and some of their parents to start considering your material. I have been stressing to my kids right across the school to consider the importance of a good breakfast with protein, having three good meals a day, to start watching their mood swings, and avoiding sugar more and more. I have directed many to your website and to "Potatoes". We have to give them some time to take it on board, experience success, and then it builds from there.

Cheers

Hi Randell! I am just learning to navigate this site but would be very interested in seeing what you wrote in Brainworx. Where can I find it? I am also a teacher and have been doing a lot of food education with my kids and their parents since I have been doing the Radiant recovery program for over 4 years and know how wonderful I feel. Adding in CST is a huge bonus for me.

Thanks!
Elaine

Hello again Elaine,

Just came back up from the shed - having some movement time to myself away from marking.

If you have some tips that can assist to getting Kathleen's stuff "out there" to the kids and families, without scaring them, I would love to hear of them .

Cheers

Hi!! Well, I teach kindergarten, so the kids are younger and will do just about whatever I tell them to do. LOL Anyway, the first day of school, I bring a good protein snack. This year I took string cheese and some whole grain crackers. When it was recess time, I gave it to them and they loved it. I had pictures of things that are healthy snacks and things that are not and told them that they are only allowed to have healthy snacks at school. If they bring something that isn't healthy, we don't let them eat it.

Now for the parents.....we send a note home that first day also, explaining about the snacks and giving them some examples of good snacks and those things we do not want in class. We have Back to School night within the first two weeks of school also and we go over the same pictures with them as we do with the kids. By this time, though, they have heard it from the kids. It is pretty powerful when a 4 or 5 year old tells you that something isn't healthy!!!

I don't know what they do at home. I can tell if they have an inappropriate breakfast and the breakfasts that they can get at school are not eh best either. I still have a long way to go, but next year, I think I will go even farther. We will start on good breakfasts too. Until now, I didn't really want to push my beliefs on them but the results are dramatic. I also ordered a couple of extra copies of Kathleen's new book that will be out in July and I will have it available for them to borrow. Biggest problem with that is a lot of our families don't speak English.

We could start working on this together and see what we can come up with. I wonder how well 5 year olds can do circles....hummmm. Well, I have 2 months to think about it .

Thanks for asking! I'm very passionate about this program!!!

Evening Elaine,

I don't know how it would go in a big group, but my kids Kahlee (4yrs) and son Josh (nearly 7) love to join in with "Mr Scott" when I do stuff.

I am sure that if you led the kids, demonstrating it to some music (even Johann Strauss type stuff for uplifting gentle music), they would love it.

Good on you, and have a great holiday.

Cheers
Randell. :D

Hi Randell! I agree, these kids will do anything if I put it to music. I am the same way. I have, at times, turned the sound down on the video and done my own Warrior Wellness to music. I will definitely try a little bit when we go back to school after our summer vacation. We do a lot of different kinds of movement and this would be an added one that could be very beneficial. This combined with better eating will make one awesome class...awake, alert and ready to learn!!!
