Hello everyone,

I was wondering if there was any quick way to recover from grip fatigue? My question is in regards to my MA training, specifically training weapon katas (tunfa and bo). Because my grip fluctuates throughout these katas (esp. tunfa) my hands seem to seize up and I end up constantly streching and wringing out my hands/fingers between sets. I train four times/week with CBs with workouts usually lasting 1.5 hours and I've never experienced this problem during any of that training.

Next month I'm purchasing Warrior Wellness but I was wondering if there was anything that I could do now since my annual seminar with my Grand Master is coming up in less than 2 weeks  .

Thanks for your help!

Lay suggestion Steve, stop actively training grip before the performance review. Distribute the existing tonus in your forearms, don't localize any more.

WW preview-- articulate each finger independently, and the wrist/grip in a circular motion that would approximate an exaggerated version of turning a water valve. Shake (vibration) tension as it occurs (end of a drill/exercise).

Check back here as more authoritative trainers have access to your question.

Sounds like over-training due to lack of effective cycling. Lay off grip training until after your event in two weeks. Focus on the skills of your sport.

Thanks for your responces guys!

Coach Sonnon:
I know that I have focused on grip training recently but I've put that on hold since I wanted to focus on my CB work(haven't specifically focused on grip for about 2 months, didn't want to drop a 'bell on my head  ).

So would my CST work be the root of my grip overtraining? I'm working on a M,W,F and S schedule training 2-3 routines in ABC fashion with 5 sets of 5. I've been planning to end this cycle and recover over the 1st 2 weeks in June then start a death march routine after that...

I've thought that I understood about changing up routines every 6-8 weeks after a week or two of active recovery but perhaps I've missed something. Thanks for you input!
