View Full Version : 6 week squat program coming to an end. What's next?

I'm in the middle of a 6 week 20 rep squat program to add some weight to my frame. In two weeks I'd like to take a break from the grind and work strictly Kettlebells and Clubbells. I have both and have used them in conjunction with other workouts. I've never used them as the whole ball of wax. I'm trying to figure out a structure (days per week, what am I trying to do with them, etc.) to use in two weeks when I finish with these god forsaken squats.

Any thoughts for a basic program?

James,
What are your goals? Are you taking an active recovery period after your squat cycle?

Scott, I just ordered the Body Flow videos and I'd like to begin work with them during a short active rest period. After that my goal is to find a way to incorporate them into a regular part of my training.

I train primarily to support my martial arts training. The goal of adding the squats was to put on some weight. Understanding that BJJ should not be about strength and size, I still find myself regularly giving 30-50 lbs on the mat. With only 3 yrs into training I'm not at the point where size doesn't matter (if in fact it ever doesn't and I'm not sure about that.) I'm 5'9 and weigh about 175 now and I'd like to end up about 185-190 at some point.

Of course 185 lbs of graceful, fluid bad mother f'r preferably.

James,
Definitely check out DOUBLE-D (http://www.circularstrengthmag.com/17/sonnon1.html) in the current issue of Circular Strength Training Magazine for a supremely effective Clubbell / kettlebell split to achieve your goals listed above.
