View Full Version : Question about Density Training

To Coach Scolek,
this week i started a density training program. I'm using the program as outlined in the Core Cadre Curriclum Manual. I'm doing the program on Mondays and Thursdays.
My Question is, is it OK to do a program of grinding exercises on the other days of the week. Or do you have to just stay with the density program training only two days a week.
I really like working out with the Clubbells and feel like I'm missing something just training two days a week.
Thanks for your help
George Foster.

George,
Go through one complete Density Cycle, and then you can accurately judge your threshold. Don't tinker with the process until you do. If you read through the CST PERSONAL TRAINING LOGS, you'll find that EVERY person who increased the training load (outside of the incremental progress of Density training) interupted the "Cascading Training Effect" we identified, and suffered overtraining symptoms.
The length of recovery in between sessions is absolutely paramount to Incremental Progression: continual development through micro-steps coming under the radar of failure and without overtraining. Even though you may feel like you wouldn't interfere with the workload at this time, you will later by doing so. Moreover, you'll be competing with the neurological adaptation you're currently undergoing in adjusting to the increasing density load.

Coach Sonnon summed it up but I thought I'd add my two cents because you addressed the question to me (sort of - scolek/Szolek).
Stick to the recommended number of density sessions only. I'm sure you're bursting with creative energy to explore every option for your Clubbells but as Scott mentioned, it will only compete with what we've found to be a very efficient means for internalizing the core principles of CST. Make these principles part of yourself within your training and you'll learn very quickly where your overtraining threshold lies.
As an aside, what combination routine did you choose to work through?
In faith,

To Coach Sonnon, Coach Szolek,
Thanks for all your help. I'm training as you suggested just two days a week Mondays and Thursdays. I'm doing the swipe program.
I also have one of my sons training with me.
Thanks for your help
