Hi, does anyone know of any good exercises for arm wrestling using the clubbells? they would seem to be perfect for some of the odd angles you get while pulling. Thanks and God Bless!

I spent my late teens and early twenties heavily involved in small competitive Arm Wrestling competition, also coming back(out of retirement)when I was thirty for one last event. I was only defeated once and that was in third grade...by a girl.
I often wondered why I was successful. I was outweighed in some events by over a 100lbs. I surmised that it was my training method, which comprised of complexed Olympic lifts and heavy, very heavy "hammer curls" and "seated front presses". (This probably explains many of my range of motion problems and elbow injuries later in life).
I felt the Olympic lifting taught my body to exert "as a whole", when others focus merely of isolated arm strength. It was my whole body versus their one arm.
I also felt my "kinesthetic intuition" played an important role, which attributed to my "speed", allowing me to quickly arrive at a "advantageous position". I believe this attribute also came from my Olympic lifting and wrestling career(shooting off the whistle).
What does this have to do with Clubbells?
If I had a chance to do it again...today(without my elbow issues), clubbells would be my primary training method.
The clubbells would give me all the "whole body" learning and "kinesthetic awareness" as my olympic lifting, but with more "specificity". They would give me both the attribute of "total joint recruitment" and "selective tension". In other words, my body would be much higher educated.
I did use cables to "simulate" the specific task, but their is no "aliveness" in a cable. With clubbells, you are constantly in a state of balancing and "neuro-muscular adaption". It's as close as you can get to a live body.
So, really any Clubbell movement will enhance your arm wrestling. But, I would focus on basic mills and swipes. On my swipes, I would add "leverage holds". The "armpit and parry cast" would be staples in my program, lots of "drumming". But if I had time for only one movement, it would be "mills".
"Mills" are the only exercise I know that trains you to "turn the corner" in arm wrestling. That's when you have taken a dominating position and begin to recruit your more of your shoulder and beyond.
Also, proper "core activation" is a must. "Mills" score high in the specificity of "core activation" in the movement pattern explored in arm wrestling.
Training with clubbells require an awareness and attention that goes very well with competitive arm wrestling, for you must have a kinetic awareness and mental focus that pinpoints in weaknesses in your competitor's attack. Clubbells are always ATTACKING!!
Good Luck,
Robert

Thanks guys I really appreciate it, lots of good info. This is probably something I should ask after spending more time looking around the site, but are there some pics of mills and swipes on the site anywhere?
