Went to Curves at lunch today- Felt much stronger on the arms machines. They were flying up! Felt more stamina, but only have tome to do 2 circuits.
Did WW (TM) after dinner. (Had vegetable protein for dinner and that often makes me groggy).
Energy level 4
10 reps (5 reps on neck exercises)
1 set
RPE - 5
RPD - 3 on upper body - shoulders
RT - 4 - 5 over all, a 3 on balance for leg lifts and 4 corners whole body movement
Feeling: Frustration. Exhaustion when shoulders feel like they burn. Feel like I've been carrying a HUGE load and I want to put it down already.
Images: Trying to get up while being held down at the chest or by the shoulders.
Felt more energetic after WW (TM) - didn't crash after dinner!!!

Today I walked close to 10,000 steps. Walked to the train, to work, during work and back to train, etc. Got home, read CST posts, felt guilty for not wanting to do WW (TM) because I'm tired, but came in to do them anyway. Tape was on the beginning part of the legs, so I just started there. Figured I'd quit when it was over. When it was over, I felt like doing the neck, shoulders, elbows, etc... up to my starting point, so I did.
Energy level 5
Sets 1
Reps 10 (even neck)
RPT 6 (getting better every time)
RPE 6
RPD 4
Thoughts, Feelings, Images: Anger. Why the h--ll do my neck and shoulders have to burn after the elbow circles? I am such an upper body wimp. Every time I try to exert my upper body, I feel a huge weakness in my arms like I want to give up immediately, and there's a rapport with my crotch, like my strength is trying to come from there. I see me gritting my teeth, clenching them as hard as I can and trying to cross the monkey bars and not being able to. I'm crunching my shoulders to my neck as I write this! Envy, jealousy on the playground while other girls would, with seeming ease, simply put one hand in front of the other along the monkey bars from end to end. I feel my arms will literally be yanked out of their sockets. I see anger and an adult yanking me up by my arms. I am not moved to tears, I am numb right now (but my teeth are clenched).

I hear your frustration, but you're doing great. Most people ignore the sensations they experience through movement. Look into your movement. You'll find your strength within it!

Thoughts: Was watching a movie... Did see myself as a child being pulled by the arms but this time to play airplane. I loved that game.
Didn't think I would want to do WW today, but after dinner, I did... yeah!
Walked 5000 steps today, worked at conference sitting most of the day.
Want to start next phase!!!

Sunday July 4th. Haven't been doing WW every day like I was before. Was reading about how the 5 mins of exercise after each meal have as a purpose to anchor the activity. I keep forgetting to do it! I have been used to doing my exercise at lunch time at work, that even when I do have 5 mins to spare, I simply forget! Is this passive resistance?
Another thing coming up for me is that I'm not getting the flood of feelings others have been getting with beginner WW. I do get images, but not feelongs. I know when I go to Yoga after an extended absence there, I often have to cry during the first relaxation poses, but that hasn't happened in a while.
I do feel cleaner in my joints, and I do feel "different" so I know something's happening. I am currently reading Body Flow and am anxiously reading on to find the spot where I will develop my own movement program. I hope I get there soon! I am so impatient.
I want to be a warrior now, so I am thinking like one... you know the philosphy that talks about living "as if".
I peeked forward to Intermediate WW. I would love to try that already. OK, I will be quiet now and go back to my CST beginner's guide and read again. I'm sure I'm all over the map and I should focus on one thing. It's spilling over into my home life too. I had kept a pretty orderly house since I got back from Ranch, and lately, with all the movement choices, everything is in a mess! Things don't get put away intheir place and I have to take my holiday to sort everything out again.

Today:
10:30 am - assorted WW (tm) movements.
12:45 pm - All of WW from memory.
Reps 10
Sets 1
RT 8
RPE 6-7
RPD 4-5 (balance on legs)

Recall an incident where an older child would hold my head underwater without letting me up for air. I always felt like I was drowning. If I got angry when I came up for air, she would laugh, and before I had a chance to breathe fully, she would dink me again.
My brothers would put an arm up agains my chest or forehead while I was trying to hit them, and would laugh as my arms would flail wildly batting at air, never connecting with an arm or some other bodily part. Great sense of frustration, injustice, inequity. Hate boys, hate that they feel so superior, hate that they dominate me. Am angry and want to cry about this as I write. I rage at the unfairness of a man's world. My brother's teased me mercilessly, and the angrier I got, the more I got lectured for feeding into it. I guess I'm not too evolved, cuz I couldn't step out of it at the time either. I am surely an anxious fighter. I want to learn to overcome that.

I said I had no feelings, yet was I reread, I found many feelings here. Don't know if the feelings are supposed to come about right away, r if there is a delayed effect in feelong them like with a BE crash.

WW after breakfast from memory, outside eyes closed for most until legs.
Energy level - High
Time - 8 00 am
Reps - 10
Sets - 1
Rt - 7
RPE - 5
RPD - 4
Sensations - popping and crunching during movements. Still have a pull on left ring finger, sometimes on right middle finger.
Thoughts - How I love doing this outside at home! The birds, the flowers, the dogs nearby, the sunshine.
Feelings - joy, accomplishment, no negatives today!

Question - Went for a walk after dinner and practiced Zdoroyve breath, ie: every 4 steps I exhaled... it was a very different feeling. I don't feel exhausted. My question is... being right handed, I tend to exhale on the 4th count which tends to be my right foot leading. I'd like to balance things out here a bit. Is it alright to exhale on the 3rd count so as to alternate? Can one eventually converse and breathe and walk all at the same time?? I mean Zdoroyve breath. Thanks-

Energy level high
Reps 10
Sets 1
Only did neck and single arm shoulders.
Sensations - none of note
Feelings and thoughts - I hope this isn't too big a change in my routine.

Am posting before my after dinner movements. Will log these tomorrow.

WW in the am: neck, single shoulders, double shoulders, elbows, wrists and fingers.

Lunch time: 2mile walk

after dinner: WW: neck, single shoulders, chest, waist, and rest of body.
ENergy level: Low... waited too long before dinner and got caught up eating more fatty and salty stuff than I wanted - babaghanouj, kettle chips and cream cheese w/ artichoke dip before my dinner of steamed asparagus, 3 oz chicken breast and 3 finn crisps. Felt bogged down. Wanted to eat ALL the kettle chips!!! Went outside to do WW instead and feel great now!

Reps - 10
Sets - 2 (for neck this evening and for legs)
RT - 9
RPE - 6-7
RPD - 4-5
Sensations: Did 2 sets on neck cuz I felt there was something stuck there that wasn't loosening with 1 set. Didn't feel too many pops, but the pressure was there like they were there, "near the surface".
Thoughts: Becasue I did all but the balance moves with eyes closed, was thinking about blind skiers and how they are tuned into their balance in a different way. Pretty cool.
Feelings: None of note or that I can recall.

Today is my day of rest. My body just needed it. I was feeling tired and achy and cruddy, like Maggi. My neck and shoulders felt tight, and I remembered I had some credit at the chiropractor's so at lunch today I went to see him. For the first time since he's been adjusting me (almost a year - although I hadn't been since December), my neck totally popped. He also stretched my neck and worked on my middle back on the left side. I showed him my exercises and he totally approved except for one which I added on my own and which I came up with. Dr. Brad told me it was NOT good! The movement was pivoting my head around in a 360 degree circle. He told me the neck is not designed for that, and since my discomfort started a couple of days ago when I started improvising on my own, well, I believe him!
I did WW this am on selected body parts. Not much to note. Will resume manana.

Sensations: Thought I would have a hard time with a certain shoulder rotation that had been difficult in the past, but it went very smoothly. Felt a tingling in my back, left side, right around where the chiro adjusted me. Not uncomfprtable, just interesting to note. I think it's the new energy getting back to these places it had been blocked from

Feelings: Followed tape, didn't focus on my feelings much

Feelings: A great synergy when doing 4CBD w/ co worker and we were tightly synchronized. People thought we were doing tai chi or something.

Thoughts: Hope I'm not overtraining.

Questions: I want to swing clubbells, but don't know if Scott will give me the OK, meantime, I am afraid of losing the toning I did get while going to Curves. Is WW at least once a day enough to keep me toned? Is 2x day too much?

Nothing Friday except for a short walk at lunch. Last day at Vista job, so wanted to spend time chatting with friends at lunch.
Saturday: Tried WW intermediate tape. 10:00 am.
Definitely a challenge in terms of coordination!
RPE - 8
RPD - 3
RT - 3 and 7 on the balance part!
Can't wait to do it again tomorrow. Want to get coordinated. Have to stop the tape and "feel" the movement. I have a hard time changing direction.

Sensations: Snap, crackle and pop on pelvics, and on back, but back felt awesomely fluid, like the pops were gliding on soft stuff, same for hips.

Feelings: Clumsy on coordination with figure eights on upper body. Got dizzy with the half turns where you lean back and forward.

Images: Felt like I could twirl a long streamer with the elbow figure 8's, looked pretty.

Thoughts: I have to start thinking about swinging clubbells. Have been putting it off.

Questions: Is it important to do the 8's the way Scott says, in other words, if he says in, then out, can I do it the other way around if that's what my body gravitates toward doing? I get really confused watching, so I just look away and do it, but then I realize that most of the time I'm going in the opposite direction...
Can I do Beginner WW in the morning and Intermediate WW in the evening? I don't always have time for that, but is it advisable?

Lucinda,

can I do it the other way around if that's what my body gravitates toward doing?
I doesn't matter which direction you start so long as you get both directions and do all of the exercises.

Can I do Beginner Warrior Wellness™ in the morning and Intermediate Warrior Wellness™ in the evening? I don't always have time for that, but is it advisable?
Do you have a particular reason for wanting to do both?

Is it important to do the 8's the way Scott says, in other words, if he says in, then out, can I do it the other way around if that's what my body gravitates toward doing?
I get really confused watching, so I just look away and do it, but then I realize that most of the time I'm going in the opposite direction...
You will want both directions. Doesn't matter which comes first.
That watching and doing while facing someone is like mirror business. A learned skill! it will come.

Can I do Beginner Warrior Wellness in the morning and Intermediate Warrior Wellness in the evening? I don't always have time for that, but is it advisable?
Too much in a day and it starts to have a training effect beyond joint mobility. Someone was doing the full program 3x per day and Scott said, you'd be better off with adding other kinds of movement.

Course if that's what you want?
why do you want the full program twice a day?

Thanks for the replies and feedback. I guess the reason I want both twice a day is... :? I guess :? "diet head" or is it "training head"? Yah, it's because I don't want to lose the fitness I acquired at Curves for a year and a half!
I don't want to gain weight... all the wrong reasons, I know, I think I'll reframe. I'm walking some distances for functional reasons, not exercise per se, so that should keep me toned.
Thanks for your feedback.

Hey I think it's legit to want to keep muscle and not gain wait and walk for functional reasons! Just not sure that WW is the best thing for those.

what do you mean by "exercise per se?" it sounded like if it's functional, it's not "exercise" - I am laughing because before CST I would only do physical things for fun or profit, and I couldn't think of anything fun or profitable. mwha ha ha

Seriously though, you should be able to "cycle" other exercises in and not be afraid of sedentary creeping back in.

Lucinda,

Sounds like your ready for the Clubbells and Step 4.

When doing Warrior Wellness much sure that you do only 5 reps on each joint for the each session other wise they will start to create a training effect.

I must've missed this somewhere... what do you mean when you refer to a 'training effect' and why is it undesirable? Thanks --val

Val,

Doing more than 10 repetitions a day of joint mobility exercises starts to tap into your energy systems which could affect your normal training energy levels.
Some athletes have misunderstood the purpose of joint mobility training, performed 100's reps with it to the detriment of their athletic training.
In the case of the RR folks the they need to monitor there energy levels and get a boost from Warrior Wellness.

Additionally we want them working on their movement and technique with Warrior Wellness to give them a greater foundation. So when they are ready for exercise, they will be able to participate in more activities with greater confidence and skill which directly impacts exercise longevity. The reason exercise longevity is so important is because your want to be able to reach your fitness goals without being thwarted by an injury.

Let me know if any of this needs explaining.

Talk to you soon.

I'm distinguishing between exercise one does to work out, that is, set time aside, and do that specifically. I'm on a tight time budget these days because I started a new job (and actaully am a bit overwhelmed with everything), so to get to work, I have to walk from where I park to the train and from the station to work and back. That's about 5,000 steps. This is different from the walking I was doing just last week (before new job) where at lunch time I would set out to walk for 2 miles, but it didn't take me anywhere. Don't know if that makes sense. It does to me in the sense of the mindfulness of it, although I know I'm still reaping a benefit from the "functional" walk.
(BTW, don't know where the quote icon is, so I made your comment a different color). Will figure that out later!

Lucinda,

It actually should read an exercise program.

The problem with many folks getting into fitness is that they are not "fit". Meaning they are people who go from sitting all day into trying to "Max Out” on their bench or see how long they can perform an exercise at a certain intensity. They usually do this to compare themselves to see if they really need to put this much effort into exercising or use this negative feedback to reinforce their resistance to exercise.

Why?

Because when they get in there and have that negative experience usually a minor injury then they decide exercise is not for them. They don't realize that they have just gone too far, too fast. Sadly many times it is at the whim of a professional who is prescribing a cure for their problem. Yes if they were able to do X amount of reps of X exercise then they would have an X body. Most people though who haven't exercised before aren't ready for X. They need some thing that will facilitate them being able to participate in those types of activities without breaking down there body. That's why it is important to build a physical foundation to exercise so that you can participate in those X activities and get the X body. The foundation is built through Joint Mobility Exercises (Warrior Wellness & Mobilized Strength) and Body-Flow exercises.

What I have been learning from Kathleen's books is that the same people who are not able to perform X exercises. Put themselves through this torture, because many of them are Sugar Addict's looking for a way to get that BE hit and don't have the impulse control to moderate their introduction to training.

Interesting stuff when you start to put it all together.

Talk to you soon!

I am so impressed with myself that I can actually do some exercise and am able to keep up with it that I am thrilled.
Lots of people who are SS want everything and we want it now! We want the magic pill that makes us thin, beautiful, serene and radiant, oh and athletic. Soooo, we tend to jump in all or nothing and what ensues is the cycle you so well described: reinforcement that exercise is not for me. That is typical C57 mouse behavior. A DBA mouse will find a way to get it done. That's all part of the science in PnP. I'm still taking it easy since I haven't had time to come up for breath and been doing some WW in the mornings and throughout the day as the stress of my job tends to land right on my neck and shoulders, I really really need the relief of WW. I promise to log more soon, as soon as I have some time to breathe. BUT, I did do my WW intermediate very earlly this am before going to work. I am proud of myself!

Whew, I don't know if I'llever catch up with myself. actually, though, it's ok. I feel alright with myself. Friday I did not do WW, I was exhausted. I did do it (WW beginner) on Sat.at play rehearsal. People thought I was doing Tai Chi or something like that. I mentioned it was Zdorovye tm (sp?). Went out to hear music last night and surprised myself with the smoothness of movement I felt dancing!
Today, Satuday, I did WW intermediate at home.
RPE - 5
RT - 7 and 4-5 on left elbow figure 8's (totally uncoordinated) and a little off on balance.
RPD - 4 (slightly stiff neck due to work tension)
CLubbells, here I come!

Didn't do WW yesterday...l long weekend and not enough energy.

Date: Tue. Aug 10, 2004
Time: 9:30 am
Place: Home office
Energy Level: 8
Exercise Selection: Warrior Wellness™ intermediate
Sets: 1
Repetitions: 10
Rest Period: n/a
Exertion Level: 5
Technique Level: 7
Discomfort Level: 3
Sensations: Neck feels a little stif, will warm up more next time. Neck and area on back around neck burn after shoulder exercises.
Feelings: Sensation of heaviness around my shoulders, like carrying a load. Makes me feel nervous, like maybe the new job is a little stressful for the wrong reasons, BUT, in all fairness, the first week came coupled with a series of things that made for a crazy week! This week should be better and I'll have time to gt back into the swing of WW.
Questions:
I want to use WW as the cornerstone for all my practice. Does this mean I can do WW the days I swing Clubbells? Do I skip ww on those days?

Feel the Clubbell® more in my leg than my arms. Normal?

How high to swing:

Since this is intuitive training, you swing as high as you feel confident and able to. If you stay "under the radar" of fear and doubt you have a better chance of getting better all the time without injury. Have some fun and notice how you get more comfortable as you go.

Leg feeling: you are calibrating your own "normal" right now.

So. where in your leg are you feeling it and what is the level of the feeling? is it a nice "i have worked out" feeling or an "uh-oh, my form is hinky" feeling?

It's definitely a nice "I have worked out" feeling, and what surprised me was that I thought I "should" feel it more in my shoulders, arms, core.

Please, what is "hinky"? :?:

Sorry, that is slang.

From www.slangsite.com:

------------------
hinkie: Out of sorts, irregular or weird feeling.
Example: I don't know, boss... something's hinkie... Robert Biggs, The Fugitive
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
hinky: The right way to spell hinkie. :)
Something that is out of whack, just a bit off, wrong, confused, suspect.
Example: His directions were a bit hinky, no? That milk taste hinky to you?

Lucinda,
On step 5 of "Getting Started" Scott says that our clubbell cycles are to be:

Week one:
3 days of clubbells
WW every day

Week two:
3 days of clubbells
WW every day

Week three:
WW only for 7 days - active recovery

So, you do NOT want to be swinging your clubbells for 7 days straight. At least this is my understanding. Does this answer your question?

Warmly, Patti
