Hi all!
My name is Matt Powell...I'm the head trainer for K-Sys, teaching Russian Martial Art- Kadochnikov System of combat fighting and survival here in the USA.
As some of you know, me and Scott go 'way' back (before Amerross was RMAX and Scott had a cool goatee and ponytail) as I trained in RMA-ROSS for a period of time before leaving my studies with Scott & ROSS to travel to Russia and begin training in K-Sys. Sometimes a rocky relationship, it's developed into a positive one in recent times.
I've played with Clubbells a bit, and though not my forte, I know plenty of folks who like them and I can understand why. As our systems have some similar physical exercises and similar biomechanical science, I can attest that that the science behind Scott's BME's, etc., is sound, and I enjoy his scientific research into performance enhancement. Scott did a lot for the RMA community, and I feel he will contribute just as much to the performance enhancement and fitness training community as well.
Why am I here? My studies into and training in the Kadochnikov System, and sport science in general, have given me a real respect for a lot of the 'alternative' approaches to performance enhancement, health and fitness enhancement and training, and other things 'physical culture.' I'm more into 'survival' or 'functional' fitness than working out for the mirror.
As I am beginning to open my own personal training organization here in Southern Cali, independent of K-Sys, I know that this is one forum where I can gain a lot of sound info from quality people wanting to learn and expand their horizons. I will do a LOT of reading and listening here...and write a LOT of run on sentences.
I'll input whenever I feel like I have something to say, and you might see me post a personal training log on here before long.
All the best folks...any questions, let me know on PM or just hit me up here!
Also, thanks to Scott for the hospitality in inviting me to become part of a great performance enhancement, fitness and strength training forum.
M
