Coach,

I don't know if this is the proper area for this question but here goes. I am also currently working on the butterfly from BeBreathed and when I try to roll one vertebra at a time I do ok through the cervical and thoracic regions but once I get to the lumbar region it is as if the vertebrae are fused. My lower back raises and lowers as one unit. I try to relax and imagine a string of pearls but it feels as if they are cemented for lack of a better description. Can you advise me on how to free up this area?

With utmost respect and gratitude,

Try this basic release, a "fetal" version of the Spinal Rock series: Lay on your back and pull your knees to your chest. Hug your shins. Exhale deeply and relax your lower back. Pull your knees closer to your chest as you exhale more. When you feel your knees go flush against your chest (with your lower back released), begin to rock up and down using Performance Breathing. Report back with your progress.
