INTRODUCTION TO CIRCULAR STRENGTH TRAINING
Date: 12th July 2004
Time: Two hours
Venue: Windaroo Valley State High School (Gym)
Participants: HPE Staff
Instructor: Randell Waddell
Overview of Session:
Randell started the session with giving all the participants on overview of Circular Strength Training, basic concepts, and theory behind this type of training. What could be understood as relatively complex, Randell breaks down a lot of this matter into basic terminology and demonstrates a high level of enthusiasm.
Having demonstrated the exercises first, Randell allowed all of us to have a go individually, with his assistance. Some of these exercises included pelvic tilts, straight leg sit-ups, backward rolls, shin box and Position of Assurance.
The last section of the session was taken up using the clubbells. The exercises included basic swinging, bring to order, rock-it, swipe and twirl.
All of these exercises were thoroughly enjoyed by all participants. On a personal level, I found this session most beneficial as I always feared the thought of backward rolling. With the assistance of Randell, I have since learnt a better technique and have overcome this fear. I am now confident at backward rolling !
All the participants agreed that the session was not long enough and would certainly like to continue Circular Strength Training at a deeper level with Randell. We thank Randell for his time and effort and look forward to working with him in the future.
Yours truly
