Has anyone noticed an increase in any of their other lifts from focusing on increasing hand strength?

Jay,

there is a measurable carry over to any lift involving the hands (every lift) from strengthening the hands. Back when I was still doing a lot of linear lifts I saw increases in my Dead Lifts, Bench, and Barbell Rows just to name a few. And I attribute the gains to increased control of the bar and overall increased gripping power. Because if you think about it, in most lifts, the grip is the weakest link in the chain. Clubbells train you from that weakest link back. No more grip straps for this Knuckledragger 8)

One of the most significant changes i have seen with my ahtletes using cbs is their enhanced static grip strength endurance. In particular one grappler i work with could not hold on to his opponenets wrist or gi for no longer than 3-4 minutes without losing his grip. 'After 1 month of cb work he can hold those positions comfortably for 10 minutes.

thank you

I have noticed an increase in several lifts due to an increase in my grip strength. The lifts that inproved were lifts where I had maxed out due to an inability to grip the bar as opposed other muscles failing during execution of the lift. The deadlift most notably and also snatch pulls and high pulls. If you consider bent rows and shruggs actual lifts then add them to the list as well.

Coach Szolek,
Am I to understand that you feel the best and only way for one to improve their grip strength is through the use of clubbell training ?

Hmm... I don't see me as having said that anywhere :?

As for your question, I do think that Clubbell Training for Circular Strength is the best way to improve grip strength and wrist stabilization, but it is by no means the only way.

I atribute most of my success in Kettlebell sport to the grip improvements from CB. Not only does your grip get stronger - but, ready for this, smarter. You get a feel for the exact amount of "grip" required and get out of the grip hard all the time thing. Big carryover.

I am not inferring that you made such a statement, I just am trying to understand what you have meant from past posting and how I should interpret the information to get a better grasp of your position on this question and to maybe learn something in the process
