View Full Version : Several Questions on Endogenous Breathing...

I have posted several questions on Frolov's website forum for a couple of days in which no one from its staff answer. I am disappointed and upset about this and perhaps I am spoiled by the quality and service of this site and its staff and dragondoor's? If anyone knows the staff behind Frolov's site, please suggest that if they care about their business, then maybe they should think about providing better customer service. Enough of my b!tching. I needed to get that off my chest and back to my questions at hand.

1. What is the connection between G.N. Petrakovich's theory and the theories founded by K.P. Buiteiko and R.V. Strelkov in relation to Endogenous breathing and Erthrocytes cells?

2. Do I have to completely stop my cardio like Vladmir Frolov did in Feb 1992 in order to improve my endo breathing? I am afraid to stop my cardio training and take that leap of faith which Frolov did because I dont want to lose any gains I achieved from my cardio training. Now if I can do cardio at the same with Frolov's breathing, then what should my Target Heart Zone be?

3. What is an erthrocyte cell? How is the Erthrocyte cell related to Petrakovich's theory?

4. What is the difference of Russian Theory of function evolution (Orbeli, Ginetsinsky, Anokhin) and Darwinian Theory?

That is all my questions. If anyone can answer these questions, thanks a whole bunch.

Sincerely,
Bao

Don't have all the answers, but I can chime in on a couple of points!

1) "Erythrocyte" = red blood cell. ("Erythro" = "Red"). The red blood cell carries the hemoglobin/iron complex that binds O2/CO2 from the lungs into the cells and back again. (As opposed to "leukocyte = white blood cell"= part of the immune system).

2) IMO, you don't have to refrain from cardio training if you don't want to while working on Frolov's programs. He started off from a different base, and for different purposes. He was working from a 'respiratory therapy' base, and not a 'fitness' base. I think that Coach Sonnon's work in creating variations of 'performance breathing' and 'control pause' breathing actually dovetail very nicely into Frolov's work, and represent an advance in its applicability to every day life and training. For instance, see Coach Sonnon's demonstrations or 'recovery breathing' in the Maximology tapes - this is a vivid example of how the control pause can speed up your ability to bounce back from high demand exertions. Also see Ian Jackson's 'Breathplay' training ideas for another approach.

Also, IMO, if you do temporarily cease formal cardio training, you can gain back any losses within 2-6 weeks once you start again. I've done this at least a dozen times after layoffs, and the limiting factor isn't my heart/lungs/cardio capacity... I need 6-8 weeks to get back to my peak aerobic capacity only because my Achilles tendons and arches can't adapt faster than that. The heart and lungs come back far sooner.

Hope this helps.
