Is running really necessary for anything? Health?? or it all depends what one is training for, otherwise one does not need it????

I hate to run. I do KB, CB, Plyometric work and Sandbag Workout.

Debatable I guess.

Even in this day and age, we all need to run every now and again - ie: catch the bus

It's about as "functional" and exercise as you can get.

Barefoot running has some benefits - take a look at the "God's Nikes" thread I posted for some links.

Also, you can make what you will of the following Re: Bone density -

Like anything, if you know what you're doing, you can do what you want. Eg - run to improve your breathing or run barefoot to strengthen your ankles etc

To each his own. I don't like running much either. But I walk barefoot everywhere.
