Hey there folks,

I have been reading through "Clubbell Training for Circular Strength". The tribal affinity within the Knuckledragger perspective is very appealing to me. The 5 Kuncledragger mantras in the foreward are right on! In the past I have pusued this passion in schools of thought like social anarchy and primitivism, though not so recently. These communities really are missing the 'Philosophy of Strength', and what is a tribe without strength?

I would love to hear of readings, experience, and examples that have inspired the tribal nature found within the Knuckledragger pursuit. I can certainly attest that the place of tribe in one's life can really motivate one to action. The more truth and understanding we can associate with our tribal perspective, the more present will be the reality... Well, I reckon so.

My favourite related reading is the chapter called 'A Lesson in Earth Civics' from the book "My Name Is Chellis, and I'm in Recovery from Western Civilization", by Chellis Glendenning. Though, that is the only chapter of the book I have seen. As well, the book "The Last Hours of Ancient Sunlight", by Thom Hartmann, has been a book that really inspired me to be in pursuit of a tribal relationship.

Scott,

I thoroughly appreciated The Last Hours of Ancient Sunlight. I picked up my copy in a little bookstore in Byron Bay, NSW Australia a few years ago, upon referral to me by Daniel Quinn - a very powerful author and pioneer in the tribal movement. Check out his books at www.ishmael.com.

I found "Ishmael" by Daniel Quinn a good tribal perspective.

I too have read almost everything Daniel Quinn has produced. Some excellent work!

But beyond the work is the questions I am inevitably left with at the end of them. :D Leading on to other authors, thinkers and philosophers. . .

Back in 2001 I read a couple of pieces that Scott wrote: The Nature of Russian Martial Art (especially), and Characteristics of Russian Martial Art that "seemed" very Quinn-esq, or to include a bit of Quinn's underpinnings. They were the final thing that "hooked" me into giving Scott's System a try.

Haven't looked back since. :D

V/R,

Chuck

Chuck,

Indeed, Daniel's distinctions on competition and warfare had a dramatic impact upon me.

Funny that, I did my first read of The Last Hours of Ancient Sunlight while in Australia as well, up on the Dorrigo Plateau. I'm off to the Library for some Slavyanskiy Byeg and to see about a copy of Ishmael.

Check out "Wandering God, a study in nomadic spirituality" by Morris Berman. I highly recommend it.

From the back cover:

Here, in a remarkable discussion of our hunter-gatherer ancestry and the "paradoxical" mode of perception that it involved, Berman shows how a sense of alertness, or secular/sacred immediacy, subsequently got buried by the rise of sedentary civilization, religion, and vertical power relationships.
