Greeting fellow Rmax Enthusiasts.
It is a pleasure and a priviledge to join this forum as a moderator for the Alternative Health section, and I hope to add to the value and usefulness of this resource for everyone here.
A little background and qualifications: I seem to be on much the same path as Vince, only not so far along the trail. I spent 9 years in college (including 3 years as an engineering student, 2 years as a classical guitar student, and another 2 years as a computer science type) before graduating with a BS in Psychology.
After 15 years working as a software support and development type, I came to my senses and did the work to get my license to practice massage therapy. I have gravitated towards acupressure based styles such as Thai massage and shiatsu, with a definite bent for neuromuscular/trigger point and deep tissue work; the results from these approaches are extremely gratifying and never fail to astonish me with the possibilities for hands on healing.
I spent most of my spare time in college and professional career practicing various wholistic health modalities, and have had the good fortune to have had some excellent instruction in Chi Kung and various CMA health and fitness methods. Recently I also had the good fortune to find an outstanding group of martial artists practicing a style which nicely blends Hsing I, BaGua, and elements of external Shaolin, and spend most of my spare time getting tenderized and slammed around - all in good fun, of course.
I feel that Coach Sonnon brings something new to the table, and something of huge value to today's seeker of health, fitness, and vitality, but I also have great respect for the ancient traditions I've learned from, and hope to be able to cast different light on CST philosophies from this perspective.
And of course, I am not a doctor, and no statement I make here should be considered medical advice or a substitute for medical advice.
