Max,
I have to say this. I continue to be impressed by your ability to put in the daily WORK and apply the breadth of RMAX materials not merely in the mind, but in action - and be willing to "put it out there" on the internet. That takes big cahones, and I respect you for it. There are people who are multi belt ranked experts in their fields that lay motionless floating between two worlds unable to just get in there and do the daily personal practice necessary to simply unlock what is their's by birthright - personal mastery. Way to go, amigo, way to go.

Guilty as charged, your honour. :(
Looking foward to changing this though, very much looking foward to it. Thanks for leading the newbie charge Max !

I wouldn’t worry too much about the small size of your living room Max… If you can exhibit that kind of talent in such a compartmentalized environment think of what you could do given a wider expanse of terrain! As I often say, “If you can fight in a phone booth you can easily fight on something the size of a football field”. AWESOME!!!

Hey guys!
Stuart, cool clip looks like you guys had a load of fun.i would love to try to have multiple attackers in my softwork.
Here is my official submission for this contest. I took the other clip down.
It’s the first day of winter (first flurries) and we went out to film a bit.
I apologize for the quality of the visual and sound I had to shrink the file (21mb).
I made it for my personal home video collection with DVD quality but this is the best I can do for the Internet version!
I produced it to be entertaining. Enjoy, we had some good times that hour.
it was often sloppy work, and david kept thinking he didnt know what he was doing.witch was reflecting on he's work.i assured him that i didnt know what i was doing and that we should just go with the flow.

Hey guys!
Here is my official submission for this contest. I took the other clip down.
Looks good Max.
I had to pause the clip and go and put a jumper on. You guys looked really cold.
I think Stu and I will have to have another go ourselves on Thursday. :)
You and David both move smoothly. I'd be interested to see video of your hardwork.
Cheers,
Stu.

I don't know if this would 100% qualify as Softwork per RMAX's definition, but I made a montage video of some teaching I did last night in class. There are some moments in there where it looks like I'm pausing; unfortunately when I teach I have to explain as well, so I'm actually talking to the students in some parts.
Anyway, at the very least I hope you enjoy seeing the clip. We were working on variations from face and stomach punches, with the essence of the training being the ability to capture the timing, distance, angle, and space of the attack, so rather than fighting the person you take the space the person needs to attack you.
Hope you like it! It's a 6MB clip.

Hola amigos!
Some really great work here! It's nice to see that others are taking these ideas and running with them! 8)
I wonder if anyone out there could give me a bit of technical advice. My training partner and I have put together a Softwork clip that we'd like to post, but we're technically challenged and have no idea how to get it on here (and no server from which to host it). It seems that Coach Sonnon may be offline for a while, so I'm unable to submit it that way. If any Tribe member could help me out with this, I'd be very greatful. Please send me a PM. We'd really like to contribute our Softwork clip for your consideration/thoughts/ideas.....
Thanks very much in advance, and good training!
Ryan.

Hey Ryan,
That was excellent mate! You guys are developing some really good clinch skills. I enjoyed your clip very much. You guys flow exceptionally well and don't end up using the same moves all the time like I do
It was so very excellently hosted and compressed too.
It's funny, even if I didn't know you were a Bujinkan guy I would have guessed that you had done some training in the Booj. There is something about the way people who have done alot of Bujinkan move that allows me to pick this up. I have picked this in 3 other people without fail.
Providing we don't get rained on again this week, Stu and I have alot of work to do in coming close to your video. Last week we set up the camera, made sure the capture card was working, put in mouthguards and gloves and then stepped out the door just in time for the first drops of rain to hit us. Grrr.
Your video will be hard to top, especially given that we had planned to do clinchwork. Nobody has done any ground work yet, maybe we need to start there?
This is a great competition. Thanks to Coach Sonnon for getting everyone motivated.
Cheers,
Stu.

Guys,
Jeez, shucks, thanks for the kind words  I agree Stu, brilliantly hosted.
I know what you mean about Bujinkan. That will always be my movement base after so many years. I was lucky to have had a good teacher, and now RMAX comes along and grad school - a chance to learn how to really make all that past experience my own.
The clip was the last in a series of drills we filmed. We made three clips for a CST Mag article on a response-based approach to striking, this is the fourth progression where we tied together upper and lower body architecture, clinch, working out of and back into clinch,... We didn't need it for the article, so thought we'd submit it here. The stick work was just for fun.
Kage, there's a moment in the stick part where the stick falls to the ground in between us. It's hard to catch on the vid, but clear in the VHS tape. Don't know if you caught that, where I rolled the stick onto the top of my foot and popped it up into my hand, just as Rick was punching in at me. Old habits, eh (a little trick from Hatsumi-sensei). Cool how it all comes out in the imrpovisation.

That would be cool. Can't wait to see what you guys come up with.

Yeah, it's a great idea. And all the talent here on the forum really encourages us to push the envelope 8)

hi all
i am new to the forum but have been an rmax member for 3 years. my background is in chinese martial arts (yin style bagua). this clip is the softwork my friend greg(blonde guy) and i(dark hair) have been working on, which constitutes shock absorption, inoculation, engineering a takedown , and a submission.
