Coaches,

I started following my own version of double-d about 5-6 weeks ago. The gains I have seen so far have been dramatic. I am way ahead of schedule, so I think I need to rethink my strategy a little bit.

First a question for Coach Sonnon. Was the weight training part of double-d done every other day consistently or was it done 3 days per week, ie Sun-Tue-Thur? I've been doing su-tu-th thus far.

Now back to my progress so far. I have progressed so rapidly, and am feeling so great that it is hard to believe!

Basically I have been doing kettlebell training in the AM and CB training in the PM like the original double-d

I started with 16kg Long Cycle, hit my target, 2 weeks ahead of schedule, moved up to 20kg long cycles. After one week added 24kg long cycles in the morning, ala a mini Bear+Rabbit. Was not supposed to even touch the 24kgs until November. So I am three weeks ahead of schedule in that regard.

My most recent weight training day was
Thursday Oct 16th

AM Session
Warrior Wellness™
Long Cycle 2x24kg KBs
8,13,21,34 (Time of last set 4:55)
RPE 8.5
RT 8.5

Afternoon
Warrior Wellness™ in chunks

PM Workout
2x15lb Clubbells®
Basic Mills 7sx5r continuos
Frogger x 25 reps
Swipes 2 x 20
Hydras 2 sets of 20
lateral cast 25r+25l

I am only 6 weeks into this, and I am ahead of schedule, my meet is on Feb 7th,2004 in FL. I don't feel tired, but I also do not want fatigue to come crashing down on me at the end. I also do not want to lose any strength-endurance I have gained.

I am considering taking a one week break after next week. What do you recommend during break week?

The number of total LC reps I did in my last workout was 76. I plan to smash that number by the end of next week. I have 14 weeks left to prepare.

I am not going to give out my rep goal for the meet. But lets just say I have revised it up substantially.

Thank you Coach in advance for your double-d torture program and for reading.

Chris, you're welcome. Great work! DOUBLE-D's secret weapon is of course Warrior Wellness as the sandwhich session. Without it, two density sessions in one day may lead to over-training. However, the reason that most people cannot sustain such high stamina is due to the absence of a strategic DROM program to defray the affects of the prior session. Recovered but not reset - the prior session's density keeps the nervous system excited and Warrior Wellness alleviates the adverse affects, so the gains just skyrocket through the end of the cycle. The relatively short training sessions allow one to keep form crisp since it doesn't tax attentional stamina.
3X/week with a day off in between each DOUBLE-D dosage is maximum. (Who could do more than that anyway?) On off days, another session of Warrior Wellness (7days/wk.)
It's okay to occassionally only do one session on a DOUBLE-D day, and catch the next session the following day... take a day off, then double it up again. Be sensitive to your energy levels. If you feel sluggish or you're dragging ass and not knuckles, just take a full day off. The following day, you'll be back full-on. On days like that, start the morning with Warrior Wellness to work out any creaks from the break.
On your week off (definitely take it!!), continue Warrior Wellness, add in light cardio, sauna, swimming, et cetera.
Keep those reports coming. Way to go, amigo. Way to go.
Clobber that PR.

Way to go... And way to Grow 8)

The Double D requires some amazing effort on the part of the practitioner. Thanks for being an example of that to all of us, Chris.
