View Full Version : Knee pain

It started two days ago. I was doing one handed tripods.

After I finished, my knees felt really tight, almost bloated.

I tried to work it out with some squat creeps, going deep and rocking back and forth. It seemed to help.

Tonight I was trying to loosen up with some squat creeps and a really sharp pain jolted me under my lower portion of my kneecap towards the inside. I thought maybe I was working too wide, so I adjusted my stance
narrower and the pain was really bad.

It doesn't hurt all the time, only when I do squat creeps.

Funny thing is, I just ordered Warrior wellness, Fisticuffs and the Endogenic breathing device today!

I guess I should have ordered them a few months ago

Coach Sonnon, can you help please? I love squat creeps.

Thank you for your time,
James Linn
ps
I'm still working on the quad hop program. 1300 hopped, 800 more to go.

James, take a break from any deep squatting until the pain resolves.

What's your weekly work load?

Tell me your technique in the One-handed Tripod (explaining the action of your lower body in particular.)

James,

I've been having fun with my knees recently as well. I would definitely suggest following Coach Sonnon's advice and just taking it easy on your knees in general until you have a better idea of what is wrong.

From what I have read, when you put a lot of stress on your bone structure the soft tissue around the abused joint "hardens up" to protect the area. I had a knee pain that only occured under certain movements as well, namely anything like jogging. Below is the main information that helped me.

These stretches were prescribed by the HSU sports doc, I held each of them for 45 seconds, once or twice.

Stretching hamstring wall stretch:
Lying on the floor with involved leg on wall and other leg through doorway, scoot buttocks toward wall until a stretch is felt in back of thigh. As leg relaxes, scoot closer to wall. The second was also done from a back position.

Stretching supine hamstring stretch:
Lying on back and supporting thigh behind knee, slowly straighten knee until a stretch is felt in back of thigh.

Follow these up with some standing quad stretches, where you stand on one leg and bend the other one up behind you, grab the foot with your hand and then slowly pull. Make sure your leg only travels forwards and backwards as moving the stretching leg outward to the side puts pressure on your knee.

Hope the above can be of help,
Jesse Wells

Thanks for the reply Coach,

Until the pain started,
5 sets of 20 quad hops daily.
30 minutes of BodyFlow daily with emphasis on squat creeps and rising shin switch

Every other day, Mon-Wed-Fri,
40 pound dumbell snatches 30 times with each arm
handstand pushups
one legged squats
Janda situps or evil wheel

Tue-Thur
Scrappers pushup pyramid
General GPP -

I only do 5 pistols on each leg
Hanstand pushups same

One handed tripod form is probably the problem. I try to snap my hips
and use my arms less, but I do not knee switch. My knees do a deep squat action.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated and heeded.
Thank you for your help,
Sincerly,
James Linn

Thank you Jesse,
I'll try the streches except for the quad stretch. that the direction the pain comes from

Thank you for your reply, injury was not in my game plan

James,
Exchange Spinal Rocks and Twisting Spinal Arches for Squat Creeps and Knee Switches.
Lay off the Tripods until your knee pain resolves. You'll get a better idea on proper technique in the Body-Flow video course. Insist upon perfect form.

Will do Coach and thank you.

I have both the BodyFlow book and the BodyFlow videos.

Actually knee switches don't hurt. I think my knee was just bent too much coming down on the tripod.

I will follow your advice and watch the vids again. They are so info intense
it's easy to miss the finer points.

Thanks again for your quick response,
Sincerly,
James Linn
