I was just look through your tapes (I am getting the beyond crosstraing for my birthday) and I noticed everything seems to be done from the clinch. I recognize the importance of clinch fighting and I work my students from the clinch more than any other range. But I feel the farther ranges are important too. Do you specialize in clinch fighting or are your drills and concepts applicable to other fighting ranges? Either way I am completely sold on your material but I was curious. Thank you for you time,
Brian

HereBeADragon,

I realize you are directing your question to Coach Sonnon, however I'd like to say that the clinch is only one range and ROSS is not limited to any given range. ROSS deals with single and team combat from all ranges.

There are many excellent ROSS training resources and each focuses on a particular aspect of ROSS.

Through ROSS we seek to internalize the ability to improvise efficiently and effectively to any threat, in any range, under any set of circumstances.

Good luck implementing the material into your training!!

I get the feeling from Phil's reviews that the concepts apply at other ranges too. Probably have different methods to get the same effect tho?

FWIW, for me the arm screw from GTB 1.1 works just fine when applied to a boxing bag, doing pushups or escaping from side control.

I figured Coach Sonnon would not have any limit in his teaching especially range but it was something I felt was worth asking. Thanks all.

FWIW, for me the arm screw from GTB 1.1 works just fine when applied to a boxing bag, doing pushups or escaping from side control. Although this is only one specific example by Bob (from which he could most likely compose volumes), within this one sentence lay the foundation principle to all of my courses.
