Just a little note from me about why I selected Lady Justice as the star of the Softwork DVD art (our artists at Shutterdog Media (http://www.shutterdogmedia.com)did an amazing job, didn't they?!)

I'm a sucker for epics, and even moreso for the long history of mythological communication. Our mythology, deliberate and unconscious, shapes who we are, and who we can become.

I chose Lady Justice to represent Softwork. Lady Justice is an amalgam of several Greek (Themis, Dike and Astraia) and Roman (Justitia) Goddesses. However, for Softwork, my deference to her regards he lineage from Themis.

Themis, the personification of divine right order of things as sanctioned by custom and law, was one of the Titans, the children of Uranos (Sky) and Gaia (Earth). Themis is called the mother of the Dike (Justice), Eirene (Peace), and Eunomia (Lawful Government), and also the mother of Horae (the Seasons) and the Moirae (the Fates).

The scales in her left hand represent Prudence and Temperance; the sword and chain in her right hand are symbols of Fortitude and Justice (the four Virtues of ancient Roman mythology as her incarnation as Justitia.)

She has oracular powers and it is said that she build the oracle at Delphi - an office she later gave over to Apollo, where was originally written the two most impacting moral imperatives upon my personal evolution:
1. Know Thyself
2. Nothing in Excess
These two imperatives suggest to me a kind of order and balance which stretches from the innermost reaches of the soul to the surface of the body and on to the way that body moves and what the whole person does and 'is'.

For me, this IS what Softwork intends to offer as a vehicle.

Thank you to all participants in the seminar, all organizers helping facilitate it, and everyone behind the scene for making this dream a reality.

Special thank you to Steve Barnes for his generous words used to describe the "Experience" of Softwork.

Thats so true, I may self gravitate to the work of Frank Herbert mostly his Dune work. The scale of the his work overflowes in to all my work.

Awesome. I love how as we continue to go forward you maintain our connection with history and mythology. I can't wait to see how the DVD turned out.

Very cool, can't wait to see it! I share your mythological bent. I love the cover art. And while we're at it I think the RMAX stuff has the greatest titles - Prime Your Bioenergy and Weaponizing Your Architecture are my favourites by far 8)

Thanks for all of the great words.

I just had the opportunity to view the finished product.
Our film company, Shutterdog Media, created an AMAZING work of art!

The Softwork tandem DVD package just blew me away. It has all of the quality of a Hollywood production, and the magic of graphic artist wizardry. Simply I'm in awe.

Softwork will shatter conventional wisdom of what martial art is.
