hi all, its my first post here and i was wondering if anyone could help me with my questions...?
Firstly, can anyone recommend herbs/medicines that can aid the liver ? Obviously there is milk thistle and the like but if anyone has any info regarding anything else then the more the merrier!
Secondly, can anyone recommend a good liver detox plan/book?
im also aware in some martial art circles various breathing patterns are common to aid the liver and internal organs. ANY advice here is greatly appreciated.
Thanks to anyone who responds.

Some questions. What is your reason for detoxing your liver? Some detox for general health, some detox because of unhealthy or abused livers. Have you talked to a doctor about the general health of your internal organs?
I know of several types of liver detox, some are very intense and some are not so intese. It depends on your overall liver health which type of cleansing you are ready for or need to do. I've used one designed by Dr. Hulda Clark the instructions are on the web for free if you want to look it up. Her cleanse is intese and fairly unpleasant, you have to drink epsom salt water, you'll have the runs for about 8 hours and feel a little under the weather for a day or two. It's over quick but its something than needs to be built up to. I highly suggest talking to a doctor about your general health before attempting it. A general rule of detoxification is to heal the gut and the kidneys before the liver. These organs have to process the detox from the liver and if they are unhealthy themselves it could make you really sick to dump a whole bunch of bile, stones and liver toxins into them.

It's great that you're taking your health seriously enough to want to begin investigating liver cleanses, but I don't recommend products based on limited information, for all I know you've been drinking a bottle of vodka every day for the last 40 years!
I also live in the UK and would love to know more about your current situation. I do know of a very powerful cleanse that is worth investigating.
Give us abit more to go on and maybe I can point you in a direction that will make alot of sense.
all the best

P.S. Hulda Clarkes stuff is fascinating although the epsom salts thing is not something I'd recommend. It is a MEGA electrolyte drain. There are better ways to reach exceptional health.

Be cautious with your forays into what is good for liver health.
I am not a fan of Hulda Clark though I'm sure her suggestions have helped people.
Don't base your perception of the need for improvement in liver function based questionnaires.
I'm sure you can find a competent herbalist in your area to assist you on this.

I'm also not at all a fan of Hulda Clarke. There is plenty of documentation online into her background, practices and ethics.
That aside, I did do a liver flush (not Clarke's) about four months ago. While the flush itself was quite bad, the results were interesting. I passed countless small cholesterol stones the following evening. I had never had symptoms at that point in my life....but for a month or so following, I did. Through reading into the topic quite a bit, I learned it could have been from a number of things. I began having inflammation and pain in the gall and liver regions on occasion.
I've taken milk thistle and dandelion in the past, but decided to go a different route. I went to a C.M.D. and he handed me Long Dan Xie Gan Wan. Within 45 minutes, all symptoms were gone and have not returned in the slightest. Needless to say, I'm a fan.
