Hello,

I need help putting together a program that would help me with my capoeira. I have been away from it for a year (only had six months training prior). At the moment, I am working on trying to routinely go to 2 classes a week (Sunday and Thursday) and eventually working back up to 3 a week. My problem right now is that I have a very difficult time getting through classes. I run out of breath quickly, or i my body begins to give out after only a few kicks or sequencias.

My first goal is simply to consistently participate in full classes with out having to constantly stop to catch my breath. From there, i want to improve other aspects of my game (acrobatics, flow, better interaction with the person I'm playing with, being able to play longer, etc.). So far, I have been doing Warrior Wellness everyday for the last month (ok, almost everyday for the last months). I just recently received 2 10lb Clubbells, the Clubbell DVD and Book, Bodyflow book, and Be Breathed DVD.

Any help would be appreciated.

Malik,

"Wind" mostly comprises one's ability to match breathing patterns efficiently to the movements. I would suggest that you build a ratchet scheme (1,2,3,2,3,4,3,4,5,4,5,6,etc) of spinal rocks from the Be Breathed program 3X/week. You can practice (5 sets of 5) swings with your Clubbells 2-3 times per week focusing on it to develop your Performance Breathing exhalation on effort.

Do this for 3 weeks, then take a week off.

Keep us updated on your progress in your training blog here.
