Bill, I know that you follow a low carb regimen. I was just wondering, do you follow Ellis, or is your program truly "your program," that you have developed over a period of trial and error/experimentation? I am currently following NHE but am considering switching over to straight low carb as the carb ups tend to make me feel like $hit, both mentally and physically.

I found low carb through Atkins. For the average person with serious weight to lose I've seen Atkins work many times.

When I worked as a trainer for Maxwell I was exposed to Ellis -which influeneced my approach. Ellis is geared more toward athlelic leaness, performance. He's more detail oriented.

Having done it so long I would say that at this point my approach is mine. If i were advising someone new, but an athlete, i would say read Ellis and set up a program you can live with long term. I an not a fan of any of the plans that include a carb binge period of any kind.

I'm always hesitant to tell someone to read a big thick book because it can become an excuse to cogitate instead of do. As you know from the other forum I think simplicity goes a long way. That said, it's always nice to convince yourself your doing the right thing.

Always be open to refine and tweak as your life sytle changes. Depending on when you train, acess to food etc...
