Hello,

My back seems to disagree with the sidebends in Warrior Wellness. When I bend to the side I can feel it in the middle back. It feels kind of like an injury waiting to happen and the muscles feel like they want to cramp up. Sometimes it takes a day or two for the stiffness to go away. My thought is maybe it's a move my body isn't used to and I should keep doing them real easy until I get used to them but I'd like your ideas.

Thanks.

When muscles tighten it is often panic from the body's overload and that is the reaction of the nervous system from too much input too fast. If you have no prior injury in that area then you already have the right idea, and you are already there, slow and easy till your system figures it out. It's kinda neat because all you have to do is keep doing it and your amazing brain will do the rest. Like taking vitamin C, all you do is take it, and you don't have to worry about where in your system to put it. If you have a history of injury in this area then you need to seek professional care. Enjoy your struggle and good health to you.

I forgot to ask.

How should you breathe during side bends? When bending to the side do you exhale?

Thanks.

Yes. The bend to the side should exhale you.

Just a little update in case anyone is interested.

I've continued practicing side bends and they no longer bother me. I don't have the same range of motion that some people do but the exercises is now comfortable.

Chris, ROM comes when discomfort releases. Great report!
