Scott,
Just wanted to give you an update on my shoulder problem and how doing the warrior wellness program has helped. As you may recall I had trouble doing the top shoulder circle.Well I went and had an exam including an MRI and nothing was torn.So this past week as per your advice and Ricks' I've been exploring and trying to work around the impaired area including doing shoulder screws and the other exercises you recommended.

Well doing it daily has made a hge difference! One of the things I found was I was moving way too fast.By really slowing down and also turning my wrist just slightly I'm able to almost do the circle without a glitch.I have zero pain now and feel as though if things stay on track I'll be able to resume my HSPU training which I haven't been able to do in 6 months because of the pain and discomfort.Going slow and letting speed increase pm it's own is something I had neglected but will not in the future.Thank you for the guidance and the wake up call.

That's great to hear John, progress will likely quicken from here on.

We know that an unused muscle set quickly atrophies. With temporary neural pathology, the weakness outlasts the actual injury. An irritated nerve may come back online after a week, but the associated muscle will be atrophied from a week's disuse. It will not immediately respond in proportion to its neighbors and its counter-muscles, the perception of discomfort will remain, so we tend to avoid using that muscle/that position, which prolongs the atrophy and the pain associated with that motion.

Not to infer this analysis applies to "any" shoulder dysfunction; apparently I'm above-baseline-susceptible to this specific type of injury, having been through several cycles of it with both shoulders. The symptom mimics a rotator cuff tear (I have been misdiagnosed) and the optimal treatments for these two conditions are different. The MRI step, while potentially costly, is really requisite to choosing the best treatment path.

With exploratory/analytical/therapeutic application of WW my recovery cycle-times have dropped dramatically. (The better I get at using it, the better it works.) Thanks Coach, for this remarkable maintenance and restorative tool.

Thank you Coach and Rick.My discomfort level has decreased dramatically and each day I see incremental progression.
