In last month's CST article I wrote about Egan Inoue's training in preparation for his upcoming fight. He was injured during training and had to take approximately 5-6 weeks off from all forms of training (he suffered an orbital socket fracture and I absolutely refused to let him do any kind of exertion!).
6 weeks rolled by and Egan phoned me, telling me he was ready for training. I had been thinking about what I wanted to focus on and told him to swing by the house that day and I'd put him through the paces.
He came over and I had the following pieces of equipment laid out:
1 40-50 pound sandbag
1 pair of 10lb Clubbells
1 pair of 15lb Clubbells
1 adjustable dumbbell with 20-35lbs of weight available
The routine went as follows:
Round 1
Explosive Burpee: 30 Sec
Clubbell Swipe: 5 Reps
Single Dumbbell Snatch w/35#DB: 5 Reps
Repeat 2x
60 seconds active recovery: shadow boxing
Round 2
Wide Leg Sandbag Burpee: 30 Sec
Clubbell Clean to Order to Torch Press to Swing: 5 Reps
Dumbbell Stiff Deads & Press w/15# DB's: 5 Reps
Repeat 2x
60 seconds active recovery: shadow boxing
Round 3
Wide Leg Medicine Ball Burpee: 30 Sec
Clubbell Clean to Order to Shield Pass to Order to Swing: 5 Reps
8 Count Iron T's with w/ 20# DB's: 5 reps
Repeat 2x
60 seconds active recovery: shadow boxing
This workout takes less than 20 minutes and you can bet it's brutal! He's been using this workout 2-3 times a week for the last few weeks and the rest times are going down while the weights are going up.
I'll be posting pictures of the exercises some people aren't familiar with in a day or so.
Keep training hard and email me if you have any questions!
