As I continue the march on through PHASE IV (http://www.circularstrengthmag.com/18/sonnon1.html) I wanted to present my
3 Month Clubbell Training Success Report
August 19th - November 2nd, 2003
Week One <-> Week Four <-> Week Eight <-> Week Twelve

I feel great - especially with only 3 Months of Clubbell work accomplishing so much with so little effort. I've increased mobility through my daily coordination practice of my expanded Warrior Wellness course while gaining about 12lbs of lean muscle. My shoulders feel amazing, like never before. My lower back is totally healed from a deadlifting injury three years ago. I'm just very pleased with the results of DOUBLE-D, PHASE IV (at least parts I and II so far) and INTUITIVE TRAINING.

Anything you want to achieve, you may do so with Clubbells if you put your mind to it, grip those dragons hard and get swinging. I'll never ask someone to do anything that I wouldn't be willing to do myself. I'm no guru, but I promise you I'll work just as hard along side of you towards our common goals of improved physical culture and enjoyment of life.

All my best to you and your training!

Scott,

It looks like you've made some serious gains! The best part, for me, is knowing the performance enhancement that comes along with your progress.

Glad to see that you're still leading from the front!

Keep training hard brother,

Just wanted to add that there is a vital difference between
1)body building, which generally asks to develop a body part in particular dimensions and proportions, then drop body fat sufficiently to display it. Increased Athleticism is often a by-product of such training, not its primary intent and focus.
2) athletic physical transformation, in which the increased proficiency in a sport generally transorms the body into an appropriate vehicle for that expression. The thicker muscles, greater symmetry etc. is a by-product of developing a healthier body-mind connection.
##

Obviously, these two dovetail, but it's valuable to grasp that they aren't the same thing.

An excellent example of the "Agile Strongman"

The ancient standard of pure warrior excellence, and the the would be goal (I hope) of all who come here.

good job Coach Sonnon, very impressive.

Thank you all for your comments.

To be totally honest, I tire of the absolute myopia of strength and conditioning - the industry's fixation on size and limit strength. Modern bodybuilding for instance is as close to death as one can get and remain animate.

Modern strength training resides in just as deplorable a state - in general, sacrificing mobility, agility, coordination, joint and tissue health, fast recovery and pain free movement - basically, grace and poise... for crude strength. Strangely enough they all pine for the old-time strongmen of yore who... were masters of bodily control by comparison to the sarcoplasmic paper-weights of the modern era.

Here's to resurrecting the... agile strongman! As a Tribe, we shall be able to revitalize holistic physical culture.

I salute you Coach Sonnon for your leadership in bringing back the idea that how much you can (insert over-hyped lift here) does not sum up your ability to fight. That true strength must not always be gained within the four walls of a gym.

I am surprised by the fact that most of the muscle growth seems to be concentrated in your chest, traps and abs. I assumed your shoulders/lats/serratus anterior area would have been the site of the most growth.

Jesse,

Yes, most people unfortunately assume Clubbells are an "arm exerciser" when in fact Clubbells are the original and the most comprehensive full body strength conditioning tool ever created. Props must be given to the entire CST System, since Performance Breathing technique in Clubbell Training accounts for all of my core development and Warrior Wellness the health and mobility of my joints.

After attending the first CST seminar, I told Doug and Dan "You coudn't ask for a better role model." Time has only confirmed that judgement. Thanks for being such a fine example to us Scott! Your inspired yet truly down to earth approach to overall fitness comes closer to the Greek ideal of a 'sound mind in a sound body' than anything I've ever seen.

Cheers!

Do you mind me asking how with the deadlift you got hurt? Maybe that way I can prevent my own injury? Thanks, If not I understand.

Jay,
It was primarily over-training. I was training 6-8 hours a day for 20 days straight in St. Petersburg, Russia when it happened. It left me in agony moving or unmoving bed-ridden for three days - some of the worst pain I've ever experienced. I was very fortunate to have both the massage therapist for the Russian Olympic Teams and a Siberian shaman to work on me.

Strangely enough, when i was a child this was the vision I always had of what I wanted to become. Some where along the way I wandered off the path, possibly due to lack of exposure to anything but bodybuildng magazines.

Its very energizing to see that Ive found information that lets me pursue something Ive wanted my whole life, to be one the agile strongmen, or as close to one as I can get.

Nice results Scott, keep it up :D

Wow, fantastic results. Have you got a daily itinerary of what you did? Any chance of getting a similarly designed program?

Thanks for all your help.
