Bill,

After reading about your 20lb. Clubbell swipe-fest, I gave it a try. Using a single 20 lb. Clubbell, I did 10l/10r, switching on the fly, for not quite 16 sets (continuous). Not quite, because my right arm got funky--unstable, and I think this caused me to compensate by gripping harder. I'm right-hand-dominant, and I finished the 16 sets with the left and felt strong, but crapped out at 7 reps on the 16th set with the right (thinking it wiser to set it down than go for the last three and put the Clubbell through the window). Ended up with nice symmetrical blisters on both index fingers.

So, 160 left/157 right.

Thanks for the inspiration.

Mike

Impressive effort Mike 8)

It's always intersting to hear about how different gripping nuances lead to friction at different points on the hand. Like with your index blisters, I can't imagine gripping in a way that would cause that. For me I maintain some pretty sick calusses on the pads of my ring and pinky fingers and the regular ones at the base of my last three fingers each hand.

Just a crazy little observation that I've made from seeing a lot of knuckledragger hands.

Mike,

Glad you liked it

I have pretty nice KB callouses that are kept well sanded and smooth. I do have new one's developing on base/pad of my hand on the pinky side. Those looooong sets are great at exposing stuff you can get away with otherwise.

Remeber, for OCS, your doing 10 minutes straight with no relief.

Bill,

The blisters on the index finger are new for me. I too have the base-of-pinky-on-palm calluses from Clubbells and KBells. I think I got the index finger blisters because of switching arms on the fly and not focusing on establishing a proper grip. Also, as I got tired I'm sure I was doing some flailing about to keep a good grip.

And yes, for me there is a huge difference between doing one-arm swipes and two-arms ones, and the rest from switching arms also allows much higher numbers.

My OCS swipe numbers are horrible. Much room for improvement.
