Rehab a clunking shoulder and regain stability in my ankles. I have not yet purchased any clubbells, and am awaiting some guidance with weight combinations. I read over Steve Maxwell's shoulder program, and am thinking that the 5lbs would be useful. I am also interested in hypertrophy training and am considering 1 - 15lb. I'm very interested in a program design to get similar results that are posted in Scott's announcment in the open topic forum  . WOW  excellent!

I only have Bodyflow, so my question would be around what combination of books/videos/equipment might get me to where I am looking to go?

I should mention that I do workout 4X a week in a conventional gym using conventional equipment. I do cardio exercise 3X a week, once in the form of friendly drop-in basketball with friends and 2X running outdoors. I am 205lbs and have probably close to 22% bodyfat last time I checked. I like food, did I mention that? :D

As I posted in the rehab forum, I injured my shoulder last year and since then have had unusual ankle stability problems. I'm not sure if they are related. I didn't make the possible connection till I heard Scott talk about Back Force Transmission in his bodyflow tapes, and about his experience. It hit me then that they might be connected? The discussions on kinetic chains was also quite revealing in how interconnected we are. We're taught by so many of our care-takers that the site of pain is usually what is investigate first, so I thought the shoulder and ankle should be treated seperately. Then through practicing some kinetic chains I am beginning to feel how a tight back limits my leg movment and vice-versa.

Much to explore :D

Thanks for any training guidance

Mark,
You'll need to recover/rehab your shoulder before going hypertrophic.
Your ankle stability issues most likely regard your shoulder injury.
You can start rehabing your shoulder now, unloaded. No reason to wait for Clubbells. Get Warrior Wellness for the exercise template.

Scott,

Thanks for the advice. I placed an order via amazon as I had a $60.00 gift certif from last xmas waiting to be used. I ordered your bodyflow book, CST book, and warrior wellness tape. I will also take a look at all the resources posted by yourself and other forum members before responding to all the generous advice.

A little further info on my shoulder though, it has been over a year since I injured it and I no longer have restricted movement in the shoulder, just the loss of the ligament. The loss of stability from the ligament is what the doc says will always cause clunking every now and then. He says it's not major but may eventually develope into an arthritic joint in my later years. He's also advised for me to get into a stretch/strengthening routine, so I'm sure the clubbell work will be fine. I'll start with the WW tape first, and see where that takes me.

Thanks,
Mark

Mark, if you have clearance from your doc to do this type of exercise, then when you get your equipment let us know and we'll provide you help in your program design to get you started.

Scott,

Sure thing, will do! One question before I do get the equipment. Will 5lbs and 15lbs be adequate? I'm liking the sounds of 5lbs for general balance as per Steve Maxwell's program, and perhaps the 15lbs for more functional strength?

Looking forward to the WW tape!

Thanks,
Mark

Mark, those are two different goals. If you cannot get both weight classes, then opt to rehab your shoulder first.
