As I was lying in bed last night, I had a very long and eclectic period of free-flow thought. It was quite interesting as this hasn’t happened to me in some time, but I would like to share these thoughts with the tribe and get some input/direction in which to take these thoughts. Now I preface this by saying that this just happened last night, and I don’t believe that I am reinventing the wheel here, but have had no time to do any formal research (not that I would have any clue as to where to begin searching). I just wanted to get these thoughts down before they escaped me.
In a recent post, Coach Sonnon talked about how a body at rest really does not lack movement, that at a quantum level, our cells are always in motion, even when we think we are at rest. I started considering the depth of this idea. What if that movement at a quantum level represented energy (potential or kinetic)? A basic energy that everyone and everything shared, even a rock is comprised of atoms that are constantly in motion (May the force be with you Luke?). What if we could harness that energy? I mean through practice and meditation, learn how to tap into that basic energy that is part of every atom within our body? And what if we could manipulate and concentrate that energy in any manner that we desire? What if we could take all that energy, and focus it into say a single fingertip, so that our fingertip becomes like a tuning fork, literally resonating with all of this quantum energy? What then could we do with that? I mean can we pass that energy along? I am familiar with the theory that energy in the universe is finite and that we cannot create or destroy energy; but can we transfer that energy from our body into another? And I don’t mean literally, like a spark jumping from one object to another, but like the example of the finger resonating like a tuning fork, by placing that finger on another object, could we get that object, at the point of convergence, to begin resonating with that energy, and pass it along, until the entire second object is resonating with the same energy that is in the finger?
I began to consider how to translate this energy into movement, for instance with my Clubbell. Instead of visualizing my Clubbell as an inanimate object, what would happen if I focused all of my energy into the Clubbell, and began swinging. Then I am no longer just “moving” a heavy object around for the benefits that it provides me physically, but I am taking this combined energy (both my own and that inherent in the Clubbell) and harnessing it, and causing it to move and start and stop, in essence I am controlling and redirecting energy. And couldn’t this be applied to any movement or “exercise” (since coming to RMAX, I have truly begun to cringe at the use of the word “exercise” I prefer movement, play, exploration, etc.). That movement becomes just a redirection and focusing of energy. (I also see the similarities between focusing this energy and the concept of selective tension.) And is this energy limitless or boundless? Is it not the energy, but our own bodies that impose the limits of the “expression” of this energy? Is it this energy that allows a 120lb woman to lift a 2000 lb car to save her child? Does everyone share a limitless amount of energy, and it is the development of our physical attributes that determine how much of this energy that can be harnessed and utilized? For instance can anyone harness this energy to bench press 700 lbs, but first must develop the proper chest and shoulder physicality to achieve it?
I also considered what would happen if we could “color” that energy, either positive or negative. Once we harness that energy, and learn to focus it and redirect it, if we could color it positive, then by mere physical contact with another being, could we “pass” that energy on, causing that individual to resonate with the same positive energy that we ourselves have? The best example I could think of was focusing all of this energy into our hands, “coloring” it positive, then picking up a crying baby? By mere touch could we pass that energy along and sooth that child and pass on our positive “intentions”? And just how could we learn to channel and focus this energy? I imagine through lots of meditation and daily personal practice, but is there another way?
I would just like to clarify that I am not on any prescription medicine, nor am I partaking in any hallucinogenic drugs. I just have a very active and over ambitious mind that never seems to stop. Right now, I am just trying to figure out what this crazy roller coaster of a ride called life really is, and how I can best use it to my advantage so that I can milk joy and passion and love out of every moment of everyday.
Again, any thoughts, comments, directions, advice (like seeking immediate psychological help) would be warmly received and greatly appreciated.
