hey guys! i just wanted to share a bit of thoughts on my progress with the wonderful warrior wellness program- and my view on the program in general!
It was about one year and a half ago that i started doing warrior wellness. At that time i was doing some martial arts training and i thought that dew to my youth that my body was is the best shape ever. not in strength- but in over all biomechanical ability! i was wrong in my assumptions and in my insipient efforts with warrior wellness i learned that i had some cleaning to do-that my lack of full range motion was limiting my life experience in the physical state and the fact my movement was actually rather bound-leaving me at risk to injury from my physical activities and future problems and pains that would surely follow the many years of poor movement and constant physical excursion.
I have learned allot of things in the last two years that i was never shown in school-and that was the concept of CLEANING THE SLATE! At first the idea sounded alienated because in was never mentioned to me by my peers and i have never herd of anyone stressing the importance of such a practice. even in the many physical activities people were involved around me , like sports, martial arts, and strength training this concept was never even looked upon.
Then along comes Scott with his mind awakening knowledge of physical culture, his kind and sometimes comical sincere desire to share this information with all who are seeking to move past and beyond their limitations. At that time it was a leap of faith to give it a try. Because in that state of seeking to transcend my personal limitations i was bombarded with over hyped adds of five step magic programs, and over the top promises of turning me to a mutant of physical perfection, lol
Every time i read a bit about warrior wellness on the tribe forum made sense to me on a deeper level. Lubricating your joints to keep them alive and healthy, the possibilities of feeling better in motion rather then worse hit the right trigger in the mind. i was taught to think and believe from the horror stories from my elders of sure pain as i aged. When i started my movement recovery and exploration i didn't know i even had baggage lodged in my body, i simply assumed that a good nights sleep cures all! even with the fact that i didn't over work my self in my youth i quickly realized that my lack of full range motion was building an armor that i could not sense because i would adapt to the feel of this armor and accept it as my normal healthy state. as most who do movement health understand that we adapt to the way we live daily. And if our daily activities include poor range of motion or any repetitive motion that may be linear and simplistic we will literarily adapt to this and take on the form of these movement patterns! I know many people who are suffering from all sorts of pain and movement difficulties because they simply don't grasp the sense in this kind of practice. I believe this has to do with the lack of knowledge about movement health in society.
When i first started my body would appose in the form of discomfort, but i persisted. I quickly realized that i was on my way to recovering my range of motion. It has been about a year and a half and i have to say that my movement continues to get better and feel better. This program that at first felt like work now feels like a reward, a pleasure to do, an essential part of my life and daily activity!
one of the biggest impacts this program has hit me with is the possibility to explore other physical activities with much more confidence and excitement. you can say that doing warrior wellness has opened new doors for me to look through and experience other physically fun activities! As some of you know i have been privileged to be going to a circus training area each sunday night for 2 hours! this has been going on for many months now.I go there to have fun and to practice things i would normally be afraid to try outside the safe environment. So that my skill and confidence would grow and i can apply this in the great outdoors! The first thing i noticed in the past months there is that i am able to progress at a fast rate each sunday! I believe one strong reason for this is my movement health practice. Warrior wellness increases your sense of biomechanical functions and releases much tension that could reside if unhandled- not to mention the much improved range of motion.
Such a simple program that has mind blowing results is a constant reminder of the body's natural abilities to maintain health and still live physically active-exploring and enjoying the flow of motion.
MY conclusion is simple- Warrior wellness has been a healer, a rejuvenator,a relaxation tool, over all body function enhancer, a pleasure, a limitation breaker, a perceptual aid,and KEY to many doors of physical self discovery!
personally for me to stop this practice would MEAN to embrace mediocre health, poor sense of biomechanical function, allowing tension to reside in the body, the welcoming of joint pain, acceptance of injury and unnecessary lack of enjoyment in physical activity!
the choice to do this practice and motivating factors are very simple for me to understand! And at this stage in my progress i am even more excited for the people who are just beginning their warrior wellness practice! the exploration of movement health will only surprise you, make you feel better, and give you something to smile about each day!
