This part of the Circular Strength Training Forum is intended for those of us who, to paraphrase the Jefferson Airplane (am I dating myself?), know we're only as pretty as we feel -- and Z-Health makes us feel good.
Just for the record: I got into Z about 2-3 (?) years ago when lower back pain caused by a supposedly herniated disc resisted PT and the doc said the next step was surgery. Instead, after working through Tai Chi, Pilates, and various schools of Yoga, I opted for the road less traveled: Z and kettlebells and am glad I did. (I still do them, just with greater awareness of different possibilities.)
Last January, as a girevoy sport competitor (kettlebell lifting), I'd injured my right knee in a freak jump rope accident. I had 9 months of slow rehab with ongoing pain until, finally, I posted a Q on this forum, received several diagnostic and prescriptive replies from Coach Sonnon. Within two weeks, I regained full ROM and am pain-free. I'm looking forward to using my clubbells & Z to get me ready for ski season (cross-country, primarily) and improve the motion needed for Russian Martial Art.
Better than that, my 13-year old son thinks his 55-year old Dad is in training to become an acrobat when he sees me doing the biomechanical exercises and kinetic chains from Body-Flow, Maximology, and Be Breathed (among others). My 16 year old daughter just thinks I'm weird. Even we can't fix some things.
So, here's our chance to, paraphrase Chubby Checker, twist and shout about it. Just remember: there's more of us (Boomers) than there are of them (brazen youth) 8) . Here's your opportunity not only to renew your connective tissue but to connect with others doing the same.
Here's to a full range of movement & discussion!
