I've told my clients that their greatest athletic endeavor was not in their past but rather it will be the remaining 30, 40 or 50 years of their life and how they deal with the issues of physical, emotional, mental and spiritual health. Much of what they took for granted or ignored in their pre-50 life will become precious beyond their imagination. Their values will change in unique and surprising ways. And biology will teach them that "feeling good" is more important than "looking good".

We are there with them, wondering "where it all went" and "where is it all going". But being part of the fitness industry, it is our responsibility to be an example of "what could be" with the proper commitment, knowledge and discipline. Numbers indicate that there are not many of us and we are challenged by our own fralities and those damn AARP reminders that we aren't getting any younger either. Still the role is worth the "sweat" and sometimes awkward stumbling toward a better tomorrow for ourselves and our tribe.

I turned 56 last month. Fitness has been a lifelong pursiut. Health has been a challenge at times and never easy. Perhaps that is why I've tried so hard and sometimes too hard. But it is my role (passion) to learn, grow, share and explore. That is why I look forward to this unqiue forum and to the company along this path for "growing old is not for sissies".

Growing old is a rare treat when you look at the big picture of human history. Average life span was way south of 50. To be even able to get this old and have (hopefully) just as much ahead us is, as the Tibetan saying goes "a boon unequalled in the thousand worlds". And we are all the more lucky to have Z-Health to do it with!

Getting old and decrepit is, in fact, old technology! There is a better way, an approach that means only increasing grace and poise as we age, increasing balance and equanimity. How many of your post-50 friends talk about getting better and better at something? Not too many in my experience, so we have a great opportunity here, to lead by example, to show people that growing old is not for sissies, growing old is for growing!
