Ok, so I've been following a low carb diet since the 13th of October and today, a month later I have finally figured out what is best for me thanks to all of your suggestions as well as my own experiences.

I started out on a strict low carb diet. For awhile this worked because I was not drinking, and when I was I would try to use vodka. But then came the problem of controlling myself from eating pizza and such when drunk. The first time I broke the diet I became mad at myself and this did no good. The next time I followed the diet and broke it by drinking beer and eating pizza for one night. I was still a little angry at myself and wanted to find a way to adapt this to my diet so I started the anabolic diet that calls for a carb up day.

Well, today was the first day of the carb up and I ended up ingesting too many carbs which led to a bloated feeling and my inabilty to drink and just feeling no good.

I have finally found the solution and it ended up being in the place I should have looked to first: moderation.

Severe restriction of carbs at all times did not work, and excess loading of carbs did not work so as one should, I found myself in the middle. So, I will follow a low carb diet 7 days a week, but allow myself to drink and eat just about anything while drinking. Of course the beer will be a ton of carbs as well as the pizza afterwards, but in the end it is a lot better than carb loading and eating everything in site. I could eat for the whole day or stick to a small few hour period where most is spent consuming liquids that will stop me from eating too much afterwards anyway and the need for sleep will further limit how much time is available for eating.

I'm not a huge drinker, so it does not take too many beers to get me drunk and I only drink around 1 to 2 days a week so the amount of carbs consumed remains relatively low while my fun factor remains extremely high. Also, the massive intake of fluids and food while partying leaves me without hunger for most of the next day so the calories end up balancing out. In addition, exercise is relatively high and on Sundays I will do a HIIT session which will help kick start my body into a fat burning mode.

Why couldn't I have been sensible in the first place and seen this? I have no idea, but I now understand what works best for me. Thanks to all you guys, especially humi, who've I've been bugging quite a bit over the past week. Thanks for reading.

Aaron - it's great to hear that you found YOUR program. I believe one must discover his/her own rythm when it comes to dietary measures. You could not be sensible before because you did not have the experience to understand what sensible was :) Now you have control and understand what will work for YOU. My hats off to you Aaron!
