I alternate BF w/ GS training just about every other day. For BF, I spend at least 1/3 to 1/2 of a 30-40 min session working core, doing various shoulder & neck rolls.

I've found I sleep a lot better (uninterrupted, sometimes longer).

It's almost as if I've gotten a massage.

I try to pass on the benefits of this type of recovery work to other GS types, but I can't support my arguments w/ anything other than anecdotal, personal evidence. Which are okay, but...

Any thoughts, explanations here?

Thx,

Ken

The technobabble explanation is, the musculoskeletal sysem seeks a balance of tension and relaxation, like you can't have one without the other, and if you don't feed it the tension it's looking for, it will create its own, not always balanced, typically not, and that's what wakes us up.

In a BF session, we're doing what we feel like doing. which is somewhat akin to going to a buffet and eating what we feel like eating, it's letting our instincts guide us, back to where we belong.
